Maruti Suzuki XL6 price & variants

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is offered in Zeta, Alpha and Alpha+ trims. A 1.5-litre petrol engine is standard across the range, but a CNG kit option is available only on the base model. The MPV is exclusively offered in a 6-seater layout.

Zeta: The range-starting trim is the most accessible in the line-up, and it packs a decent amount of kit, including LED headlights, fog lamps and tail-lights,16-inch alloy wheels, fabric seats, power windows, automatic climate control, 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 airbags, cruise control and a reverse parking camera. Clearly, the base-spec XL6 is a value-for-money trim, and we recommend going for the same. It even offers the choice of an automatic gearbox, as well as CNG. As mentioned before, the latter choice is not on offer with any other trim.

Alpha: If you do not want CNG and your budget allows, you can consider the Alpha trim, which adds an Arkamys surround-sound system, automatic headlights, leatherette upholstery, wireless smartphone connectivity and a 360-degree camera system.

Alpha+: At the top-end, the Alpha+ gets only a few exclusive features, including ventilated front seats and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Considering that, the Alpha+ trim is priced on the higher side, and it should be avoided.

Exterior Design And Engineering

8.0

The updated XL6 features subtle changes over the older version. It gets a refreshed grille with a chunky chrome bar connecting the LED DRLs, new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a metal finish for a more proportionate look. The black cladding and roof rails remain unchanged. At the rear, the tail-lamps retain their shape but now have a smoked effect, and there's a new chrome bar on the boot lid. Overall, the changes are minor but noticeable.

Interior Space And Comfort

9.0

Inside, the XL6 looks familiar but gains key updates. A new faux wood panel, telescopic steering adjustment, and ventilated seats with a unique cooling system improve comfort. The 7.0-inch touchscreen now runs SmartPlay Pro UI with Suzuki Connect and Alexa integration, offering remote functions like climate control and locking. New features include TPMS, 360-degree camera, and cooled cupholders, but USB ports are lacking. The second row offers captain’s chairs and ample space, while the third row is usable but tight and lacks AC vents. Safety sees a boost with four airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and hill-hold assist as standard.

Performance And Refinement

7.0

For 2022, Maruti replaced the old 1.5L K15B engine with a new K15C 1.5L DualJet petrol motor making 103hp and 136Nm. Though slightly down on power, it's more efficient at 20.97kpl. It remains a mild-hybrid, offering smooth, linear performance and decent refinement. The manual gearbox is light and tractable, needing minimal gear changes. However, the new 6-speed automatic feels sluggish under pressure, with delayed shifts and noisy high-rev performance. It's smoother with a relaxed driving style, and paddle shifters in manual mode improve engagement. Overall, it’s not exciting but suits the calm, comfort-oriented character expected from an MPV.

Mileage / Range And Efficiency

7.0

It still is a mild-hybrid, where the start-stop system helps save fuel in traffic, and the motor offers some assistance under acceleration. The system is seamless, and while it does get a slight nudge when poked, the engine overall is relaxed and linear. While the power is less, the addition of two injectors for each cylinder helps improve mileage; Maruti claims 20.97kpl,which is an improvement over the previous engine.

Ride Comfort And Handling

8.0

The XL6, though an MPV built for comfort, offers a surprisingly decent drive. Body roll is present, but control in corners remains intact, and the steering has a reassuring heft. Despite switching to 16-inch wheels with lower-profile tyres, ride quality hasn’t suffered. Suspension tweaks balance the added weight and size well, absorbing bumps effectively. Only the sharpest potholes filter through. Even fully loaded, the XL6 stays composed and stable, making it a confident and capable family cruiser.

Value For Money

9.0

The XL6 has always been a comfy and spacious car, and it has certainly gotten more appealing with the new features and updates. Prices range from Rs 11.83 lakh to Rs 14.83 lakh, the XL6 has also gotten expensive, especially at the top.
There’s also no diesel, unlike the Kia Carens Clavis, but you do have the option of a CNG. With the new features, connected tech and the refined powertrain on top of what is already a very spacious and comfortable car, the XL6 does plenty to make sure it’s a strong contender.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 FAQs

The Maruti XL6 is well-suited for someone who wants a smooth engine and also desires ample space and practicality from their car. It misses out on some features and more potent powertrains compared to rivals, but it offers good value-for-money if you want a relaxed car that can move people.

The third row of the Maruti XL6 feels cramped, but the space is reasonable even for taller passengers. The seat backrests of all the rows can be reclined for a more comfortable experience.

The interior space and practicality are the X-factors of the Maruti Suzuki XL6. It repackages the positives of the Ertiga into a 6-seater offering with slightly bolder looks. However, the in-cabin space and everyday practicality are the biggest strengths of the XL6.

Yes. Ride comfort is one of the XL6's biggest strengths. Its suspension absorbs broken roads well, the captain seats in the second row offer excellent comfort for longer trips, and all three rows benefit from dedicated AC vents. The third row is best suited to children or occasional adult use, but overall the XL6 is a capable highway tourer.

The XL6 is the more premium of the two. It gets SUV-inspired styling, captain seats in the second row, a richer interior and additional convenience features, while sharing its platform, engine and mechanicals with the Ertiga. Buyers who regularly need seven seats may find the Ertiga more practical, whereas the XL6 is better suited to those prioritising comfort and a more upmarket feel.

I am 74 years old and have an XL6. I feel like buying an Innova HyCross G, as my driving is not much, but I love driving.

The Toyota Innova HyCross G is a sensible upgrade from your XL6, especially if you enjoy driving and value long-term ownership. The HyCross is a genuinely comfortable and spacious MPV with a strong reputation for reliability and durability, which is important at this stage of ownership. The G variant is well-equipped and offers a good balance of features without unnecessary complexity. However, given that your running is not much, the hybrid premium may not be fully justified from a fuel savings perspective. The HyCross is still a very comfortable and easy car to drive, but it is a large vehicle and may feel unnecessarily big if you are not regularly carrying a full family or using the third row.If you love driving and want something more engaging, you could also consider the Skoda Kushaq. It is smaller, more driver-focused of an SUVs with strong turbo petrol engines and a more enjoyable driving experience. Its is also easier to manoeuvre in the city and more suited to lower running.Ultimately, the decision comes down to your priorities. If you value space, comfort and long-term reliability, the HyCross G is a great choice. If you want a more engaging driving experience and do not need the extra space, the Kushaq would be a better fit.
