Maruti Suzuki XL6 FAQs

The Maruti XL6 is well-suited for someone who wants a smooth engine and also desires ample space and practicality from their car. It misses out on some features and more potent powertrains compared to rivals, but it offers good value-for-money if you want a relaxed car that can move people.

The third row of the Maruti XL6 feels cramped, but the space is reasonable even for taller passengers. The seat backrests of all the rows can be reclined for a more comfortable experience.

The interior space and practicality are the X-factors of the Maruti Suzuki XL6. It repackages the positives of the Ertiga into a 6-seater offering with slightly bolder looks. However, the in-cabin space and everyday practicality are the biggest strengths of the XL6.

As the Maruti XL6 is based on the Ertiga, whose rebadged version is the Rumion, there are no significant size differences between the three MPVs. Compared to the Kia Carens Clavis, however, the XL6 is 105mm shorter, 25mm narrower and has a 40mm shorter wheelbase. The XL6, however, is 47mm taller than the Kia Carens Clavis.

The XL6 gets the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that the Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion get. The Kia Carens Clavis gets a slightly more powerful petrol engine, but it is also heavier, which counters the power advantage.

At 11.57 lakh, the Maruti XL6’s starting price is more than all its rivals, including the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion and Kia Carens Clavis. However, its top-spec variants are a lot more affordable than the Carens Clavis, while being more expensive than the Ertiga and Rumion.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is a comfortable car which offers plenty of space. Although it misses out on amenities like a sunroof and powered seats, it gets a decent feature suite and refined powertrain options, making it a strong contender in its segment.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6’s Zeta AT variant is recommended for customers, as it offers a good suite of features, including a 7-inch infotainment, auto AC, dedicated rear vents, captain chairs in the middle row, and rear parking camera and sensors. With a smooth AT, this variant is suitable for both city and long highway drives.

The Zeta MT variant is recommended for XL6 buyers on a strict budget, as it offers a decent feature suite with amenities like a 7-inch infotainment, 6 speakers, and auto AC dedicated rear vents. However, it gets wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay only.

Yes. Ride comfort is one of the XL6's biggest strengths. Its suspension absorbs broken roads well, the captain seats in the second row offer excellent comfort for longer trips, and all three rows benefit from dedicated AC vents. The third row is best suited to children or occasional adult use, but overall the XL6 is a capable highway tourer.

The XL6 is the more premium of the two. It gets SUV-inspired styling, captain seats in the second row, a richer interior and additional convenience features, while sharing its platform, engine and mechanicals with the Ertiga. Buyers who regularly need seven seats may find the Ertiga more practical, whereas the XL6 is better suited to those prioritising comfort and a more upmarket feel.
