•1wWhat is your opinion on buying the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, a hybrid 7-seater?

Autocar India
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is nowhere near as popular as its twin, the Toyota Innova HyCross, though both are virtually the same car. With the Invicto not being in as much demand, better discounts are possible, but you will also take a hit in resale value when you go to sell it. If you are comfortable with the Maruti-Suzuki badge, choose the Invicto Zeta+ (7‑seater) strong‑hybrid. It offers the most usable three‑row comfort, smooth city driving, and the widest service network. At over 4.7 m long and with about a 2,850 mm wheelbase, it offers real space across three rows. The strong‑hybrid setup keeps the city running very smooth, often shutting the engine off at low speeds and running on pure electric power. As a result, fuel efficiency is very good. The one thing you give up is ADAS features. The Invicto doesn’t offer lane keep, adaptive cruise, or AEB, which some rivals provide at this size. If you specifically want ADAS and more top‑end features, consider the Toyota Innova HyCross Hybrid ZX (O) instead. It adds active safety tech, but it will cost you more and involve longer wait periods.

•6wI am writing to ask for advice for the third time. Age 61. Monthly travel is 800-1,000km, sometimes more. Mostly travel to work and back, plus occasional outstation holiday trips. Outstation long-distance trips may increase in the coming years. I am looking for a reliable and comfortable 5 or 7-seater with good luggage space and good mileage. The vehicle can be petrol, hybrid, diesel or other. It is important that service in case of a breakdown is available across India. Budget up to Rs 35 lakh. Please guide.

Autocar India
The Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid or Maruti Suzuki Invicto hybrid are your best bets. These cars have an efficient hybrid powertrain that's likely to deliver around 13kpl in the city and 16kpl on the highway. Moreover, getting in and out is quite easy, the seats are comfortable, and the boot space is plenty. Also, despite being large cars, these are surprisingly easy to drive due to their light steering and good visibility.Lastly, both Toyota and Maruti have stellar reputations for their after-sales service and reliability, so you're likely to enjoy a trouble-free ownership experience by opting for either of these two.

•10wI want to purchase a strong hybrid or plug-in hybrid with a budget of Rs 25-30L for a family of 6. Please suggest a good 6-seater car with a strong safety rating. I am not keen on 7 or 8 seater cars. Good headroom and leg space are important. I prefer well-known brands with lower maintenance costs. I have checked the XL6, but it is only a mild hybrid with a low safety rating, and the Kia Carens Clavis EV is only available as a 7-seater. Any help is appreciated.

Autocar India
Your best bet is either Maruti Suzuki Invicto or Innova HyCross - these are the only two strong hybrid family cars in the market. All other options are either diesel, petrol/turbo-petrol, or electric cars. You'll be happy to know that the Toyota Innova HyCross has been awarded 5 stars by Bharat NCAP for its crashworthiness. If these are too big for you, you could opt for a Carens Clavis diesel instead, which will be more fuel-efficient and more economical than its turbo-petrol counterpart.

•10wI am looking for a petrol seven-seater with 70% city usage and 30% highway usage. My budget is around Rs 25-26 lakh, and good city mileage is my main priority.

Autocar India
If you can stretch your budget a little, you should consider the Toyota Innova HyCross strong hybrid. The HyCross has a spacious and very comfortable cabin for seven adults, and the 183hp, petrol-electric strong hybrid powertrain has a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24kpl. Toyota Innova HyCross strong hybrid prices range from Rs 26.30 lakh to Rs 31.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, which is essentially a rebadged Innova HyCross with the same strong hybrid powertrain. Prices for the Invicto range from Rs 24.97 lakh to Rs 28.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

•11wHello, Sir/Madam. I own a 2009 Honda City that has clocked 2.55 lakh kilometres, and I am extremely happy with it. It's like my second wife. However, due to family pressure, I am now considering upgrading to a new car. I drive around 1,500km a month, mostly on highways, and we are a family of five. The cars I am considering are the XUV 7XO, Invicto, new Seltos, Elevate, or a used Innova Crysta. I would also like advice on an automatic hatchback or compact SUV for my wife. Please advise.

Autocar India
Given you have a family of five, a larger car would work better to accommodate luggage as well, in case any of your 1,500 monthly kilometres are family driving holidays. Since you're used to the rock-solid reliability of the Honda City, we would recommend the Maruti Suzuki Invicto from your shortlist. The hybrid powertrain of this Maruti car is incredibly efficient, smooth, refined, and very comfortable, and it should be reliable enough to last as long as your City has. The other midsize SUVs you have listed are also good, but they will not offer the same space, comfort, and flexibility as the Invicto.

•15wDear Autocar Team, I am confused about selecting a 7-seater. I am 54 years 54-year-old male and am 5'8". I own a Dzire (diesel), which is close to 11 years old. Now I feel it is a good time to go for a little bigger car within 25 lakhs. I have tested the Mahindra XUV700 diesel AT and liked the driving experience. Now the local dealerships are saying that they are out of stock. Now what should I do, wait for the facelift or go for the Invicto hybrid (the HyCross is out of budget for me)? Please advise.

Autocar India
The Mahindra XUV700 is due for an update, and the model (XUV 7XO as it will be called) goes on sale in January 2026. We'd recommend you wait for it, especially since you liked the driving experience. The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is a very different kind of vehicle that prioritises passenger comfort and fuel economy. The Invicto has the far nicer third row and makes for a more sensible pick if you will be travelling often with all seats in use. Also, while the Invicto isn't quite as nice to drive as the XUV700, the hybrid system does deliver amazing fuel economy numbers for a vehicle of this size. Your pick essentially boils down to which aspects you give more weightage to.

•16wI’m looking to buy a new or used car with a monthly running of about 2,000 km (mostly city with a few Mumbai-Pune trips). The car will be mostly chauffeur-driven, so rear-seat comfort and smooth low-speed performance are important. Daily use will be for 2-3 passengers, but I need occasional seating for six. I prefer Hybrid, Diesel, or Electric. My priorities are comfort, reliability, low running costs, and strong service support. My budget is around 25 lakh. Please suggest 3-5 options and include used choices if suitable.

Autocar India
With your extensive usage, we cannot recommend an EV, as you would have to charge it frequently, and that is not good for battery health. In your budget of Rs 25 lakh, there aren't any 6-seater hybrids, either; your only option there is to move up to the Rs 30-lakh-plus Toyota Innova Hycross or Maruti Suzuki Invicto - both of which are excellent choices. In your budget, the best option is the Kia Carens Clavis diesel. It's well equipped, comfortable and surprisingly spacious for its size. Plus, there are both six and seven-seat versions, so you can choose which configuration suits you best.

•16wI want to buy a 7-seater for my family with a 70:30 highway-to-city usage pattern and an annual running of around 10,000 to 12,000km. I am considering the Invicto Zeta Plus with year-end discounts, the HyCross GX, and the XEV 9S. My buying motivators are Comfort, build-to-last quality and low maintenance, as I will be keeping it for a long time. Which one should I choose?

Autocar India
Since the majority of your driving is on the highway, we would rule out the Mahindra XEV 9S, as public charging infrastructure is not yet fully developed on the highway. The Maruti Suzuki Invicto and Toyota Innova HyCross are fundamentally the same cars, which are both very spacious and comfortable.Besides, they are very reliable too and promise to give you a hassle-free ownership experience throughout their lifecycle with you. The non-hybrid 1.5 petrol variants aren’t very powerful for highway use, but they do the job as a relaxed commuter. Between the Invicto and the HyCross, we would choose the HyCross as it has better resale value, thanks to the lure of the Toyota badge.

•17wI have gone through your review of the MG M9. Is there a petrol or hybrid option available in that price range for a seven-seater?

Autocar India
No, the only other option you have in the MG M9's price range is the Kia Carnival, which is available with a diesel engine. In case you're looking for a petrol-hybrid, you might want to consider a Toyota Innova HyCross/Maruti Suzuki Invicto, which are significantly cheaper than an MG M9 EV, or consider the Toyota Vellfire, at twice the price of the MG.

•17wI want to buy a seven-seater for my family. I am looking for comfort, safety, low maintenance, and a car that is future-ready with respect to fuel. I am confused between Hybrid and ICE. I am not interested in EVs. My budget is around Rs 25 lakh. Kindly suggest.

Autocar India
You are unlikely to get a hybrid seven-seater at around Rs 25 lakhs, but if you're willing to stretch by a few lakhs, you could get a Maruti Suzuki Invicto, the Hybrid Zeta+ variant. The Invicto is essentially a badge-engineered Toyota HyCross, offering the same level of comfort, efficiency, and features.Since it isn't as popular as the Innova, Nexa dealers are offering substantial discounts, which means you could get a great deal too. If your usage isn't much, you could consider the Toyota Innova HyCross Petrol CVT, which will easily fit into your budget.
