I am looking to buy an 8-seater car for my family and am confused between the Toyota Innova Hycross GX(O) and the Maruti Invicto Zeta Plus. My annual driving is quite low, around 8,000-10,000 km. My thought process is that since the price difference between the two is only around ₹3.5 lakh, spending the extra amount for the strong hybrid system could make sense because of the better fuel efficiency and overall refinement. If you are looking at the Toyota Innova Hycross today, we would not wait for the facelift. Typical of Toyota and especially the Innova, the facelift is unlikely to bring major mechanical changes, and at most there might be a few more feature additions and some cosmetic updates. In fact, the bigger risk is that the facelift could push prices up slightly, which would hurt the value proposition of the GX (O). The Hycross is already a very well-rounded MPV with excellent space, comfort and Toyota’s proven reliability. If you need the car now, there is no strong reason to delay the purchase.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi+ turbo MT petrol. For a first car with a 10+ year ownership plan, the Brezza works well. Maruti’s service network, proven reliability and lower long-term maintenance costs make it a stress-free ownership proposition. The Brezza’s turbo petrol engine is also well-suited to Indian conditions, offering good drivability and efficiency without being overly complex. The Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX A MT petrol does make sense too, but we would lean towards it more if a peppy and lively drive feel is what you are after. Overall, the ride and handling balance is better with the 3XO, which has a good mix of city comfort and high-speed stability. The Brezza, however, leans towards the city with a much more pliant ride at low speeds. Thus for you keeping in mind a long ownership period, we would lean towards the Brezza.
