Go for the Renault Triber or its sister car the Nissan Gravite. They are both economical to buy and run and offer genuine three row seating comfort. At your budget you will also get the top end variant which comes very well equipped with features like a touchscreen music system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera, NFC card based central locking, rain sensing wipers and other bits. The only downside is the 1.0 litre engine is not really powerful and you have to work it hard in instances like overtaking, driving in the hills or when your are fully loaded. If this is a concern, opt for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The engine is more powerful and easily manages everyday driving tasks even when fully loaded. Its also larger and thus would give you more room inside however at Rs. 10 lakh you would get the base version only.

Only outstation use and a Rs 10 lakh cap for 7 seats points straight to the Renault Triber. It rides comfortably on rough roads and feels steady on the highway. The packaging for a sub-4 metre vehicle is superb, with a second row that slides and a usable third row. When not in use, the third row can be removed for a generous 625-litre boot. It is easy to drive and fairly economical on fuel for long trips.A few catches: with all 7 seats up, the boot is tiny. If you are opting for the AMT, its shifts are slow and sometimes jerky. And while the engine is fine in the city, it will feel strained when pushing for an overtake with 7 people on board. If you are able to wait until the end of the year, Renault has announced that the Triber will get the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol from the Kiger with the optional CVT. This will largely address the last two catches.Alternatively, you could consider the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, but even the base LXi trim will likely cross your Rs 10 lakh budget on-road.

Based on your usage, we would recommend buying a used Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 diesel manual. It is a better fit than the older 2016 Innova because the Crysta feels noticeably more modern, more comfortable on long drives and significantly more refined overall. The 2.4 diesel manual is also considerably stronger than the older 2.5 diesel, and you will especially feel that extra performance on highways while overtaking or cruising with a full family on board. It is quieter inside, feels steadier at highway speeds, and the overall jump in comfort and safety over the older Innova is quite meaningful.While buying used, try to stick to single-owner cars with full Toyota service history. Check cold start (no smoke, smooth idle), look for clutch slip and smooth gear shifts, listen for injector and suspension noises, make sure it tracks straight and tyres wear evenly, and that ABS/airbag lights go off after start. Test AC on a hot day, check all doors, windows, and lights, and scan for flood signs (musty smell, damp carpets, rust under seats). Confirm no taxi use, match odometer with records, check insurance claim history, RTO papers, pollution certificate, both keys, and spare wheel and tools. Overall, for your use, a well-kept Crysta 2.4 diesel manual lines up best.

Go for the Renault Triber Emotion MT. Within your budget, it is the best 7-seater for mixed city and highway use.It is easy to drive and park in the city because it is not very big, the steering is light, and you get a good view out. On bad roads, it stays comfortable, and the cabin is very practical. The second row slides, and the third row folds or can be removed. So you can switch between carrying people and luggage based on the trip.The 1.0 naturally-aspirated petrol engine feels adequate, but one thing to be aware of is that with seven people and bags, the engine will feel underpowered, so you have to plan overtakes. Also, the third row is best for kids or short adults, and with all seats up, there is very little boot space.Alternatively, you can even consider the Nissan Gravite, which is essentially a badge-engineered Triber with a tweaked design and a different interior. If you can stretch a bit over Rs 10 lakh on-road, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga LXi is roomier, has better performance and fits seven adults better.

Go for the XUV 7XO diesel automatic. It is the best fit for your requirements. The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a spacious 6/7 seater with a comfy third row, a strong 2.0 diesel engine and a well-sorted torque converter automatic gearbox. It is also one of the most feature-rich cars in the segment and offers good value for money. The diesel engine is refined, punchy and well suited to both city and highway driving, while the automatic gearbox is smooth and easy to live with. This Mahindra car also has a good ride quality and a comfortable cabin, which makes it a great family car for long journeys.The Maruti Suzuki Invicto strong hybrid, which is a rebadged Toyota Innova HyCross, is also worth a look if you prioritise fuel efficiency, reliability and long-term ownership, but it is not as feature-rich as the XUV 7XO and doesn't come with a diesel engine option . Overall, the XUV 7XO diesel automatic is the best all-rounder and the car we would recommend.
