The Tata Sierra has scored a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests by scoring 31.14 points out of 32 and 44.73 points out of 49 in adult and child occupant protection tests, respectively. The ratings are applicable to all variants of the Sierra.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Sierra provided 'good' protection to the driver's head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet. The chest and tibiae, however, received 'adequate' protection. All the critical parts of the co-driver, except the right tibia, received 'good' protection.

In both the side movable deformable barrier test and side pole impact tests, the critical parts of the driver and co-driver, such as head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, received 'good' protection.

The 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were facing the rearward direction in the child occupant protection test. In the frontal crash test, the Sierra was rated 7.73/8 and a full 8/8 on protection for the 18-month-old and 3-year-old, respectively. Meanwhile, it scored 4 out of 4 points in the side crash tests for both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old.

The Sierra achieved 23.73 out of 24 points for the dynamic score and full points (12 out of 12) in the CRS score. But it lost 4 points in the vehicle assessment score, bringing the overall child occupant score to 44.73 out of 49 points.

The Sierra is equipped with standard safety kit like 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold, traction control, and ABS with EBD. Higher trims get a 360-degree camera, level 2 ADAS, an auto-dimming IRVM and a blind spot monitor.

The Sierra is priced from Rs 11.49 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 21.29 lakh. It competes with the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Maruti Victoris, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun.
