Tata Motors has launched the Curvv in India in petrol, diesel and electric versions. The coupe-SUV is Tata’s answer to traditional SUVs in the midsize segment like the Creta, Elevate and Grand Vitara. Here, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Tata Curvv.

How much does the Tata Curvv and Curvv EV cost?

Prices for the Tata Curvv EV start from Rs 17.49 lakh and go up to Rs 21.99 lakh. The Curvv ICE is priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards for the turbo-petrol variants, Rs 11.5 lakh onwards for diesel, and Rs 14 lakh onwards for the T-GDi variants. Do note that these are introductory prices.

What powertrains are on offer with the Tata Curvv?

The Tata Curvv gets three engine options. The first two are the 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and an updated 118hp, 1.5-litre diesel from the Tata Nexon. The Curvv also debuts Tata's new 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that makes 125hp and 225Nm of torque. All three engines come with a 6-speed manual as standard, along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option.

Meanwhile, the Curvv EV gets two battery options: a 45kWh unit and a 55kWh unit. The 55kWh variants get a 167hp electric motor mounted on the front axle, while the 45kWh ones get a 150hp motor; both make 215Nm of torque. Tata claims a range an MIDC range of 502 km with the 45kWh battery, while the 55kWh pack offers 585 km on a single charge. A CNG version is also under consideration.

What features does the Tata Curvv get?

In terms of features, highlights on the range-topping variants include leatherette upholstery, ventilated six-way adjustable front seats, a two-step rear seat recline function, front and rear 45W Type-C charging ports, the Arcade.ev app suite, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate with gesture control and a 320W 9-speaker JBL sound system. Tata Curvv: Your questions answered

Is the Tata Curvv bigger than the Nexon?

The Tata Curvv is based on the Nexon, but it is slightly larger than the compact SUV. In terms of dimensions, the Curvv is 313mm longer and has a 62mm longer wheelbase. This naturally results in more legroom on the inside and despite the sloping roofline, headroom is also pretty decent at the rear. The Curvv is also 6mm wider, 10 mm taller and rides on larger 18-inch wheels as opposed to the Nexon’s 16-inchers. The added length also gives it 118 litres of extra boot space over the Nexon’s 382 litres.

Which cars, SUVs does the Tata Curvv rival?

The Tata Curvv’s most direct rival is the new Citroen Basalt. It also serves as an alternative to other midsize SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV rivals the MG ZS EV; there’s also some price overlap with the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata’s own Nexon EV. The Curvv EV will also see competition from the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX in the coming months.
