Tata Curvv sales

The Tata Curvv, which is available in petrol, diesel and electric versions, has registered wholesales of 8,218 units in August and September combined, as per SIAM passenger vehicle industry data. The coupe-SUV was first launched in its electric avatar on August 7, and followed by the petrol- and diesel-engined variants on September 2.

  1. Curvv comprised 9.64 percent of Tata’s August-September dispatches
  2. Average waiting period for Curvv is between 1-2 months

Tata Curvv sales analysis

Tata Motors dispatched 3,455 units of the Curvv in August. With deliveries for the petrol and diesel variants commencing the following month, September dispatches stood at 4,763 units, up 38 percent month-on-month. The exact model-wise split between the ICE and EV variants, however, is not available as yet.

Considering Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle wholesales in August (44,142 units) and September (41,063 units), the Curvv accounted for 8 percent of company’s PV dispatches in August and 11 percent in September. Of the combined August-September dispatches of 85,205 units, the Curvv’s share is 9.64 percent.

The Curvv’s two-month average is a lot higher than the Harrier which averages monthly sales of about 1,700 units, although it is a long way off the Nexon’s 12,000-unit monthly average. It is also a long way off the midsize segment leader, the Creta’s, monthly average of 16,000 units. While it’s still early days, the Curvv, along with the Citroen Basalt, have birthed a new niche of coupe-SUVs in the midsize segment, and it is likely that sales will further rationalize in the coming months for a clearer picture. The multi-powertrain strategy with petrol, diesel and electric is also likely to give it some competitive advantage over rivals.

Tata Curvv waiting period, price

As we reported last month, the 120hp turbo-petrol MT and diesel MT variants of the Curvv have a waiting period of around 4 weeks. Meanwhile, the 120hp turbo-petrol variants with the DCT auto have a waiting period of up to 6 weeks, and so do the 125hp turbo-petrol manual variants. The automatic variants of both the 125hp turbo-petrol and diesel powertrains have the highest waiting period of up to 8 weeks. Lastly, the Curvv EV’s waiting period is about one month across all its variants.

Prices for the combustion-engined Tata Curvv range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 19 lakh, while the Curvv EV is priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
