Undisguised spy shots of the upcoming Hyundai Venue, ahead of the model’s launch on November 4, have given us a complete look at its exterior design. As seen in these latest spy shots from Korea, the next-gen Venue seems to have borrowed design cues from several SUVs in Hyundai’s global portfolio. This will be the first generation update for the Venue since it was introduced in May 2019.

  1. New Venue takes design cues from Creta, Tucson and Ioniq 9
  2. Its interior will get a new twin, connected screen setup
  3. Existing petrol and diesel engines expected to continue

Up front, the new Venue gets a split headlamp arrangement, with the upper portion resembling the flagship Ioniq 9 SUV, while the quad headlamp motif lower down seems to have been carried over from the Creta; it also has large C-shaped LED daytime running lamps, enclosing the main headlamps. Meanwhile, the grille has grown larger with new rectangular inlets, the bumper seems more fleshed out with functional air vents at either edge, and the chin gets a silver garnish, lending a bit of ruggedness to the design.

In profile, the flared wheel arches and character lines appear like a mix of the ones on the Tucson and Exter and are a lot more pronounced than they are in the current Venue. There’s generous use of side cladding near the door sills and over the wheel arches, and this time around, there’s a provision of a rear quarter glass as well. The blacked-out C-pillar also gets a silver garnish with the name inscribed on it, and there’s a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels.

The rear is characterised by a full-width LED light bar, similar to the one seen on the Creta. Almost a design staple these days, it’s enclosed in a contrasting black trim that also houses three individual lighting elements at either edge, with the ‘Venue’ lettering in the middle. Meanwhile, the rear bumper gets thick dual-tone cladding, some of which also extends upwards to the tailgate. There are L-shaped reflectors on both sides, and the ‘SX turbo’ badge on the tailgate suggests that this is a top-spec variant. It will also come equipped with sequential turn indicators.

The Venue’s interior will see a thorough overhaul as well. Spy shots have hinted at an all-new dashboard with a new twin-screen setup (much like the Creta), and new switchgear and steering wheel. There could also be some additions on the equipment front, such as a 360-degree camera setup, an upgraded Level 2 ADAS suite, and more.

New Hyundai Venue engine options

Mechanically, the next-gen Venue is likely to retain the current model’s three engine options: a 120hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, an 83hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 100hp 1.5-litre diesel. The base NA petrol engine is only available with a 5-speed MT, while the turbo-petrol comes with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT; the diesel only gets a 6-speed MT.

The Venue has consistently been a strong seller for the brand, averaging about 7,000-8,000 units a month despite sitting in one of the most crowded and competitive segments. The new Venue will continue to rival the likes of the Tata NexonMaruti BrezzaKia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
