The ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app, Volkswagen’s new connected-car technology, has been rolled out in India. A SIM-based app, My Volkswagen Connect includes several convenience and safety features for customers.

    • The app can be downloaded on any Android/ iOS device.
    • Offered on the Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus.
    • Available with three-year free subscription and warranty.

    My Volkswagen Connect features

In order to access the connected features, customers have to plug a dongle into the on-board diagnostics (OBD) port of the car and download the ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ application on their smartphone. The app can be downloaded on any smartphone and paired to any Android/ iOS device, post a secure OTP exchange on the registered mobile number.

It is worth mentioning that the new My Volkswagen Connect app does differ from the previously available Volkswagen Connect app. The main difference being, the new version uses an embedded SIM for the gathering the data and using the features, while the old version made use of Bluetooth. This meant that in the old version, the car had to be turned on and you had to be in the vicinity of it in order to use its features. Now, these features can be remotely accessed.

The My Volkswagen Connect app can analyse an individual’s driving style, which includes speed, braking behaviour, coolant temperature, acceleration and RPM. The app enables customers to locate points of interest and also to reach out to customer care or Roadside Assistance, in case of emergencies. Additionally, customers can use the app to scan, upload and store all the important vehicular documents for a paperless experience. Customers can also use the app to set renewal reminders for vehicle insurance and receive ‘over the air’ (OTA) software updates.

The My Volkswagen Connect feature comes as standard fitment in the Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus and is available with three years of free subscription and warranty.

Speaking about the My Volkswagen Connect app, Steffen Knapp, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “At Volkswagen India, we have relentlessly been working towards enhancing and providing our customers the best of technology and connected solutions. Today, we introduced the upgraded ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app that offers customer convenience and safety at their fingertips. Customers will have access to real-time vehicle analysis and assistance that would make them aware of their vehicle condition, driving patterns and enhance the overall fun-to-drive experience that a Volkswagen stands for.”
