Hyundai Exter interior.

Hyundai India is all set to launch the Exter on July 10 and while the micro SUV's exterior has been shown many times, there has been no sighting of the Exter's interior until now. Leaked images that have surfaced on the internet have given us more than a sneak peek at how the Exter would look from the inside.

  1. Exter gets all black interiors
  2. Dashboard design resembles Grand i10 Nios, Aura
  3. Gets instrument cluster from the i20, Verna

Hyundai Exter interior looks similar to Grand i10 Nios

The dashboard design with the free-standing binnacle housing the infotainment screen and steering wheel are the same as the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, albeit finished in black. The steering gets audio and telephone controls, and a leather-wrapped finish on the higher variants. There is also a subtle brushed-aluminium trim on the dashbaord.

The leaked images also give us an idea of the features that will be available on the Exter. The instrument cluster is all digital, at least on the higher variants, and is similar to the one seen on the Verna and the i20. The digital instrument cluster will support multiple languages, including Hindi and Marathi as seen in the picture.

The touchscreen, too, is identical as its siblings and features ancillary physical buttons and knobs, which are usually appreciated by customers. Higher variants will get automatic climate control, a sunroof and voice commands, among other features.

Hyundai Exter powertrains

The Exter will be available with a 83hp, 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and will also be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. With the petrol engine, you can choose between a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission, while the CNG only gets a manual gearbox.

Hyundai Exter bookings and rivals

Bookings for the Exter are already underway for a token amount of Rs 11,000, and our dealer sources tell us deliveries are expected to begin by the end of July. Upon launch, the Exter will be positioned against the likes of the Tata PunchCitroen C3 and the Maruti Ignis.
