The Pulsar N160 price starts at ₹1.16 lakh and goes up to ₹1.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The Pulsar N160 is a naked motorcycle designed as a versatile sporty commuter that combines daily usability with performance. It is powered by a 164.82cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, fuel-injected petrol engine. This BS6-compliant engine produces 16 PS at 8,750 rpm and 14.65 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.

The Pulsar N160 is built on the same base as the Pulsar N250, which means it uses the same platform, suspension, wheels, brakes, and frame. The main difference is that it gets a smaller engine and a more fuel-efficient engine. Due to this shared setup, the Pulsar N160 feels quite stable at high speeds and remains sure-footed around corners. The ride quality is generally comfortable, but you do feel a slight stiffness from the rear suspension, especially when the bike goes over the sharp edge of a pothole. This Pulsar N160 rivals motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R, etc.

Pulsar N160 Specifications

The Pulsar N160 weight is 154kg (kerb). Despite being the heaviest Bajaj bike in the 160cc segment, it delivers fuel efficiency that is reasonable for its engine size and power. As per ARAI, the Pulsar N160 mileage is around 51.11 kpl, depending on riding habit and weather. But in our test, the bike delivered 51.6 kpl in our real world test. And due to its 14 litres of fuel tank capacity, you get a real-world riding range of roughly 680 to 720 km.

The Pulsar N160 seat height is 795 mm, which makes it quite approachable for riders of varying heights. And due to its 165 mm of ground clearance, Pulsar N160 can easily handle urban road conditions and speed breakers.

I want to buy a 160cc bike for my daily office commute of around 15 km each way, which includes bad roads and heavy city traffic. I am confused between the Hero Xtreme 160R 2V and the Bajaj Pulsar N160. My height is 178 cm, and I am 36 years old. My main priority is comfort and minimizing jerks from potholes to protect my back and spine. Please share your suggestions.

The good news here is that both the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160 are comfortable machines and going for either of them will be a good move. Picking between the two will boil down to which one suits you better and which bike's sales & service reach is near to you. The Pulsar feels slightly more spacious than the Xtreme, especially in the seat to footpeg curve which could be something to watch out for on your test ride.

My height is 5′3″/4″. I have been using a Honda SP 125 for 3 years and am happy with the mileage, but I want a bit more power, so I’m thinking of moving to the Pulsar N160. Based on my height, would this be a good choice?

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is an excellent option in the 160cc commuter class and will make for a good step up from your SP125. In a similar vein, you can also look at the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, which has similar performance and will also return good fuel economy. Both the Pulsar and Apache have manageable seat heights (approx. 800mm). It should help you get comfortable with these quite easily after a brief adjustment period.

I am planning to buy a new 160cc bike. My options are the Apache RTR 160 4V TFT, Pulsar N160, and Xtreme 160 4V. Most of my riding will be in the city at speeds of 60-70 kmph, with occasional long rides. My priorities are mileage, looks, low maintenance, good customer service, resale value, fewer complaints, comfort, performance, and easy availability of spare parts. Please suggest one good option.

All three options you have shortlisted are great in their own ways, and we'd advise you to choose between the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and the Apache RTR 160 4V TFT from our previous experience with them. If you are taller than 5'9, then the TVS bike will feel a little cramped, so we'd recommend the Bajaj if you're above that threshold. You should also take a look at the Honda Unicorn / SP160 as these bikes also meet your requirements, although they will have slightly lower performance compared to the aforementioned TVS and Bajaj bikes.Take a test ride of all the bikes you're considering before you go ahead with your purchase.

I am thinking of buying a bike with good mileage, good for city traffic, occassional long rides and comfortable seating position for pillion riders too. I am interested to opt for Yamaha XSR 155. Does that bike offers that? Or should I go for Pulsar N160 or TVS Ronin 225 or any other bike?

Verified

The Yamaha XSR155 you have shortlisted will give you everything you want aside from pillion comfort, as its seat isn't very long. This could be a subjective issue based on your size as well as your pillion's, but by and large, its pillion comfort is likely to be average, nothing to write home about. It will be a similar story with the Bajaj Pulsar N160 too. The TVS Ronin will offer you everything you are looking for, so that is the bike we would steer you toward. If you are open to considering other machines, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will be a good option too.

I currently own a Honda Livo for my daily commute from point A to point B, and I want to upgrade to a new bike in the 125 cc to 220 cc segment for the same purpose. My daily ride is about 20 km in the city. I’m considering bikes like TVS Ronin, Apache, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Hero Glamour, and Honda Hornet. I want reliability and comfort for daily commuting.

All the options you've shortlisted are great at being decently reliable point A to point B runabouts. Going for a 125cc or 150/160cc option like the Hero Glamour, Bajaj Pulsar N160, or the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V will give you considerably more fuel efficiency than a bigger machine like the TVS Ronin, but at the cost of performance. We'd recommend taking a test ride of all the options you're looking at and then deciding.
