Skoda Kodiaq one year report card

Skoda introduced the second-gen Kodiaq on April 17, 2025, bringing in a more premium cabin, new features, and a slight power bump. Deliveries of the carmaker’s flagship SUV began in the month after, and it was sold as a CKD. As it has been over a year since the premium SUV was launched, we delve into its sales performance to determine how it has fared in the market.

  1. Kodiaq has recorded 1,802 total unit sales in its first year
  2. Prices have changed due to GST benefits and an MY26 update.
  3. New entry-level Lounge trim introduced within five months after launch.

Skoda Kodiaq sales

1,802 units of the SUV have been sold in a year since its launch

Report card: Skoda Kodiaq’s 1-year innings

In its first year of sales, the Kodiaq sold 1,802 units, averaging 150 units per month. While 205 units were sold in the first month, sales numbers began to decline in the coming months. Sales peaked in October 2025, with 305 units sold, likely because of price cuts due to GST revisions. But the momentum was short-lived, with numbers rising and falling in the following months, and March 2026 had the fewest sales at 64 units.

Skoda Kodiaq milestones

While initially launched with two trim levels (Sportline and L&K), Skoda introduced a new trim of the SUV in September 2025. Called the Kodiaq Lounge, it was positioned as a much more affordable entry point into the Kodiaq lineup. Priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (Currently Rs 36.99 lakh), the Kodiaq Lounge is the only trim that has five seats and skips some features. It gets a different alloy wheel design and is offered with three exterior paint jobs. Being the entry-level trim, it skips on some features, gets a smaller 10.4-inch infotainment display, a 9-speaker sound system, and fabric upholstery.

Skoda updated the Kodiaq lineup in May 2026 by bringing level 2 ADAS features for the Sportline and Selection L&K trims. Additionally, the Sportline trim also got a 360-degree camera and a grille-embedded LED strip, features that were limited to the top-end Selection L&K.

The carmaker has also announced that the spicier Kodiaq RS will launch by June 2026

Notably, Skoda once issued a recall for the Kodiaq. 221 units of the SUV manufactured between March 10 and December 8, 2025, were recalled due to a failure of the front side airbag protection.

Skoda Kodiaq price

As of May 2026, the Kodiaq’s price ranges from Rs 36.99 lakh to Rs 46.99 lakh

The second-generation Kodiaq had a price range of Rs 46.89 lakh to Rs 49.25 lakh. The entry-level Lounge trim was launched later and was priced at Rs 39.99 lakh. GST revisions reduced the prices to Rs 43.76 lakh for the Sportline trim and Rs 45.96 lakh for the Selection L&K trim. Skoda introduced the MY26 Kodiaq and increased the prices of the Sportline and Selection L&K to Rs 44.99 lakh and Rs 46.99 lakh, respectively, while the Lounge trim's price was cut to Rs 36.99 lakh.

Since Skoda has not been able to move many units of the Kodiaq, it is offering lucrative offers on the SUV. In May 2026, pre-updated versions of the Kodiaq are getting benefits of up to Rs 3.5 lakh

Skoda Kodiaq specifications

The Kodiaq is powered by a sole 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. The mill outputs 204hp and 320Nm of torque, and is paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. An all-wheel-drive layout is available as standard on all Kodiaq variants. ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of the SUV is rated at 14.86kpl, and it rivals the likes of the Volkswagen Tayron R Line, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and the upcoming MG Majestor.

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
