I’m planning to buy a premium SUV. Most of my driving will be in Bangalore city traffic, with occasional highway trips, around twice a month. I’m currently considering the Mahindra XUV 7XO top-end petrol automatic and the Skoda Kodiaq L&K. I understand there’s a significant price difference between the two, but my budget allows for either. I enjoy driving and won’t be hiring a chauffeur, so the driving experience is important to me. While both SUVs offer similar power on paper, does the Kodiaq provide a noticeably better sense of quality, cabin feel, driving pleasure, and after-sales service that justifies its higher price? I’m also open to suggestions from other brands that fit my requirements, such as entry-level Audi or BMW models, except Tata vehicles. Your expert advice would be a great help. Thank you.

Go for the Skoda Kodiaq Selection L&K. The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a genuinely impressive SUV with strong performance, a feature-rich cabin, and excellent value for money, but the Kodiaq is on a different level. The quality of the materials, the solidity of the build, the refinement, and the overall sense of premium engineering are immediately apparent. Its 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine is also an excellent unit, delivering strong performance and a genuinely enjoyable driving experience. The XUV 7XO is a very good SUV and offers outstanding value for money. However, the Kodiaq feels like a truly premium product, and if budget is not a concern, it is the one to choose. As for after-sales service, Skoda cars network is not as extensive as Mahindra cars, but it has improved significantly in recent years, and ownership experiences are generally positive. If you're open to other brands, the BMW X1 is also worth considering. It is smaller than the Kodiaq, but it is rewarding to drive and offers a genuinely premium experience. Overall, if you can comfortably afford the Kodiaq, it is the SUV that is most likely to keep you satisfied in the long run.

Hi! I am looking for a car under 15 lakh and also ready to increase 20-30 thousand if the car gives value. I have been considering few cars like Skoda Kylaq signature plus AT, Kia Seltos 6 MT HTK, Kia Sonet HTX 7DCT, Hyundai venue HX6 Turbo but I am very much confused and not able to decide. I want good features, good feel, moderate maintenance and reliable car which doesn't give me trouble. Could u please help. Thanks

Hi, I currently own a March 2023 MG Hector Sharp CVT Petrol, top-end variant. The car is performing well except for the mileage, which is as low as 5 kpl. Would it be a good idea to sell the car and buy a used Skoda Kodiaq? If yes, I would like to hear your recommendations. Currently, I am being offered only Rs. 13 lakh for my car.

The MG Hector petrol CVT is a comfortable and feature-rich SUV, but its fuel efficiency is a known weakness, especially in city driving. The MG Hector price starts at 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, switching to a used Skoda Kodiaq is unlikely to solve your mileage concerns that you faced with the MG car. The Kodiaq is a larger, heavier SUV with a 2.0 TSI turbo petrol engine, and while it is more powerful and engaging to drive, it is not significantly more fuel efficient in real-world conditions. In fact, depending on your driving style and usage, it could even be thirstier than the Hector. The bigger issue here is the financial hit. Rs. 13 lakh offer on a 2023 top-end Hector is a steep depreciation, and moving to a used Kodiaq will likely require a substantial additional outlay. Unless you are genuinely unhappy with the Hector beyond just fuel efficiency, it is not a financially sensible move.If mileage is your primary concern, the better approach is to adjust your expectations or driving habits, or consider a hybrid or diesel SUV in your next purchase cycle. The Hector remains a comfortable and well-equipped SUV, and it is worth holding on to unless there is a stronger reason to change.

I am currently driving a 2022 honda city zx cvt. Have driven around 35k so far. Feel an ich to upgrade and have narrowed down to Q3, Kodiaq and Tayron. Since all three share same underneath - engine, gearbox and infotainment (for later two). Which one would be a sensible shift considering Q3 face-lift is around the corner and it felt the only car missing bare minimum which others are offering like ventilated seats, bigger infotainment, etc? I am inclined towards Q3 manly for its size and the ON road cost being competitvr of the three. Pros and cons of owning this vehicles from owners is welcome.
