While SUVs continue to dominate the Indian market, sedans still offer a lower driving position, better aerodynamics and, in many cases, stronger performance than similarly priced SUVs. Buyers today also have a wider mix of naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol and hybrid options to choose from.

Here’s a look at the most powerful petrol sedans in India under Rs 25 lakh, ranked by power output.

5. Hyundai Verna 1.5 NA petrol

The naturally aspirated version of the Verna uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic. The Verna recently received a facelift, bringing revised styling and updated features. Prices for the Verna 1.5 NA range start at Rs 10.98 lakh and go up to Rs 17.15 lakh.

However, the Verna shares the fifth spot with two other sedans.

115hp, 178 Nm

Most powerful petrol sedans under Rs 25 lakh

The Slavia and Virtus share Volkswagen Group’s 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which develops 115hp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.

The Slavia 1.0 TSI is priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16.69 lakh, while the Virtus 1.0 TSI range starts at Rs 10.50 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.30 lakh. Both sedans are also due for facelifts later this year.

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
