Based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform co-developed by Volvo and Geely, the pure electric EX40 sits above the smaller EX30 in the Swedish brand’s India lineup. Volvo EX40 design and interior
The Volvo EX40 boasts a boxy silhouette that amalgamates chiselled lines with sophisticated LED lights and a confident stance. Volvo’s idea of using chic-looking colours that blend well with a contrasting black roof, black body cladding and two-tone alloy wheels make for a stylish but convincingly SUV-esque design. The ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED DRLs aside, the EX40’s exterior also boasts vertically styled LED taillights. There’s a roof-mounted spoiler placed atop the sculpted tailgate, opening which reveals a 441-litre boot. Meanwhile, the frunk (front trunk) has a luggage capacity of 31 litres.
The sophisticated interior of the Volvo EX40 can be had in either a sporty-looking black or an airier two-tone beige-black theme. The driver-oriented dashboard and centre stack makes for a sporty feel, whilst premium materials like aluminium and suede come together with quality stitching and well-designed comfy seats that also feature the Swedish flag as a small tag. Some of the key features of the EX40 include a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon audio system, wireless charger, a 9-inch infotainment system and a 12-inch digital driver’s display.
