The XC40 Recharge is identical in terms of design to its petrol-powered counterpart apart from its closed-off front grille and reprofiled bumpers. Despite its reserved looks, the luxury electric SUV’s performance is quite strong, with a claimed 0-100kph acceleration time of 4.9sec. Its interior hosts a unique 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen system along with feature highlights like the panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS tech. Despite weighing around 2.2 tonnes, the XC40 Recharge offers a planted ride and good handling in the corners. However, its stiffened suspension and large 19-inch wheels also make it quite firm on low speeds. Undercutting more expensive luxury SUVs, the Volvo XC40 Recharge is a compelling choice thanks to its features, performance and range on offer.
