Trending Questions on Tata Tigor - Answered by Autocar Experts
I am looking for a CNG automatic gearbox car under ₹10 lakh, 5-seater. Please advice the best car to buy as per my requirements.
I’m really impressed with the practicality of CNG cars, even though they require compromising on boot space. But why are there no automatic variants in CNG cars? Please correct me if I’m wrong, in case any models are available. Is this because of the power loss in CNG mode?
CNGs cars and SUVs have come a long way in the past few years.
Carmakers like Tata, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki all offer models with underbody CNG tanks, which means you don't have to compromise on boot space.
As for CNG automatics, there are currently three models for sale in India in three different body styles.
The Tata Tiago CNG AMT (Rs 7.23 lakh-8.07 lakh, ex-showroom) is a hatchback, the Tata Tigor CNG AMT (Rs 8.19 lakh-8.74 lakh, ex-showroom) is a compact sedan, while the Nissan Magnite CNG AMT (Rs 6.89 lakh-9.70 lakh, ex-showroom) is a compact SUV.
I currently drive a Swift Dzire and cover approximately 4,000 km/month. Please suggest the best automatic car with great mileage for this usage.
Since you are already using a Dzire, upgrading to a new Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT would make sense for you. It is feature-loaded, offers a comfortable ride, and the Dzire mileage of 25.71 kmpl is impressive for the AMT variants. However, if you want even lower running costs, consider getting a CNG-automatic. Your options include the Tata Tigor CNG AMT and the Nissan Magnite CNG AMT.
I’m looking for an automatic car in the ₹10-12 lakh range - I drive approximately 1,000 km and want reliable, low-maintenance options. Please suggest suitable models. Also, explain the types of automatic transmissions available (and their order of technological advancement), and tell me whether automatic cars with factory-fitted CNG are available and which models to consider.
Tata offers the Tiago and Tigor with a CNG and automatic combination. Both cars fit well within your budget and are convenient, pocket-friendly options.
The only downside is their automated manual transmissions (AMT), they tend to feel a bit slow and aren’t as smooth as conventional automatics.

My monthly running is around 1,500 km, mostly in the city. I’m looking for an automatic CNG car with sufficient boot space for occasional trips. My budget is ₹10-12 lakh, and my priority is driving comfort and mileage.
I want to buy a CNG automatic car. Please suggest available options.
I am upgrading from a 2017 Tata Tigor XT petrol manual and am considering the Honda Elevate VX CVT because I like its road presence and reliability. Is this a good choice, or are there other suggestions?
The Honda Elevate VX CVT is certainly a good upgrade over your Tata Tigor. It is priced well, has a good road presence, and, being a Honda, it is also reliable.
Alternatively, you could consider the Hyundai Creta, which is more feature-rich and comes with a smoother CVT compared to the Elevate. Another option is the new Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which is more fuel-efficient and comes with a conventional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
I commute approximately 90 km daily, primarily on city and outer roads, and prefer a CNG vehicle with an automatic transmission for better fuel efficiency. Could you recommend a reliable and low-maintenance car that suits my daily driving needs?
The only CNG-automatic options currently available in the market are the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor. The Tata Tiago, a hatchback, is priced from ₹4.57 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tata Tigor, a compact sedan, ranges between ₹5.48 lakh and ₹8.73 lakh (ex-showroom). Choose the body style that best suits your needs.
