Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq FAQs
Yes, it is more than just a cosmetic change. The earlier halo-style dashboard had limited space for a second cup holder and made the wireless charger and USB-C ports difficult to reach from the passenger side. The new dashboard addresses these issues while adding a dedicated display for the front passenger.
The switch from the halo-style dashboard to a more traditional horizontal layout does make the cabin less distinctive, but it a practical trade-off. The halo design looked unique but created some everyday usability issues. The new layout improves practicality while adding a dedicated passenger display. The halo-style dashboard is still available on the Formula E Freedom Edition and the One trim.
It is not a new top-spec trim. The Sporteq now covers the entire BE 6 range, from One to Four and the Launch Edition. The Formula E Freedom Edition is offered separately. In short, the Sporteq is a rebranded and updated BE 6 lineup, not an additional trim above the existing range.
It helps, but only as an emergency backup. Mahindra has limited the Revive SOS to five uses over the vehicle's lifetime. It also clearly states that it is not a substitute for regular charging. So, it can help if you run out of charge, but it is not meant to replace proper charging planning.
It is a strong warranty for the first registered owner, but there is an important condition. If the vehicle changes ownership, the battery warranty becomes 10 years or 2,00,000km, whichever comes first, from the vehicle's first delivery date. This is worth considering for buyers who may sell the Sporteq later.
Questions you may find useful
Hi, Autocar India, Currently, I have the 2020 Venue diesel. Now I, want an electric SUV. Also, I like XEV 9S but I am skeptical about waiting for BE7 but idk if i should wait or not also its easy for me to buy XEV9S with BAAS. Please suggest, should I wait for BE7 or buy XEV9S?
The XEV 9S is already on sale, offers strong performance and plenty of space, and BaaS reduces the upfront cost by separating the battery financing from the vehicle. Just remember that the battery cost is still payable through a separate finance arrangement, so compare the total outgo over your intended ownership period. The BE 07 is expected to launch in 2027 and will be a five seater, positioned above the BE 6. It is likely to share the existing INGLO platform and battery options, but its final price, range and specifications are not confirmed. Since you are coming from a Venue diesel, the XEV 9S will be a substantial upgrade in space and performance.
Hi Autocar Team, I am currently driving a 2014 Honda City diesel and am looking to replace it with an EV. A few options I have in mind are the Mahindra BE 6 Pack One, Tata Sierra Pure 63 kWh, and MG Windsor EV. My budget is under Rs. 20 lakh. I would appreciate your suggestions and recommendations.
The Tata Sierra Pure 63 makes you feel like you've spent your money well thanks to a rich cabin experience. Coming from a Honda City, it'll feel like a proper upgrade as far as space, comfort, performance and ride handling go.The Mahindra BE 6 Pack One is an interesting option from a design and technology perspective. It feels like the sportiest one to drive of the three; however, cabin space feels cramped given its exterior dimensions. The Windsor EV is the most affordable of the lot, and even though it is more compact than the others, due to its excellent packaging, cabin and boot space are better than the others. Do keep in mind, though, that the Windsor's battery is the smallest and its real-world range will be much lower than the others. Also, its DC fast-charging speeds don't match the others. Lastly, its ride comfort isn't as plush as the Tata's either. In summary, the BE 6 is the sportiest to drive, the Windsor is good value, but given its excellent comfort, range and driving manners, the Sierra EV is our pick of the lot.
I am planning to buy a VinFast VF7 with the 70.8kWh battery pack. However, after going through various online videos of users reporting serious issues such as paint chipping, suspension leaks, dashboard cracks and inefficient service support, I am having second thoughts. The trouble is that options such as the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e also have user-reported issues, particularly around software. Is buying an EV in the Rs 25-30 lakh price range risky? If not, which would you choose between the VF7, BE 6 and XEV 9e? There will be three rear passengers.
The VinFast VF7 is a genuinely interesting product, but your concerns are valid. The brand is still relatively new in India, and while the car itself is well-specced, there have been reports of quality and service inconsistencies. That said, the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e are not without their own issues, particularly around software glitches and niggles. The bigger question is whether an electric car in the Rs 25-30 lakh range is inherently risky. The answer is no, but you do need to be realistic. This is still a relatively young segment, and even established manufacturers are ironing out teething issues. The key is to buy from a brand with a strong service network and a proven track record of resolving problems quickly.Between the three, the Mahindra XEV 9e is the safer choice. It is a more mature product, has a stronger service network and compared to the BE 6, it is much more practical. The VF7 is the wildcard. It is a genuinely compelling product, but the brand's service and support ecosystem is still developing. With three rear passengers, the XEV 9e is also the better choice. It has a wider rear bench and better overall space management than the VF7, which is more of a coupe-style SUV. The BE 6 also suffers from a space perspective and is not as complete as the XEV 9e.
Hi, I have a Kia Carens 1.5 turbo DCT and an Xcent AMT. I am looking to replace the Xcent with an EV. My monthly running is around 20k km, with mostly city usage. I want a sporty EV in the Rs. 20-25 lakh price range that will be more enjoyable to drive than the Kia.
Since you're looking for a sporty EV, we'd recommend that you consider the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq. It is a standout EV that looks radical, is feature-loaded, and feels great to drive. This Mahindra is not only powerful but also very efficient, resulting in impressive real-world range. Since your usage is mainly within the city, and if you can arrange for home charging, you can opt for the 59kWh battery pack version for its lower purchase price compared to the higher battery options. The VinFast VF7 is also an excellent option; however, its sales and support network isn't as strong as Mahindra's, hence the BE 6 is the better option.
