I have been using a Ciaz Auto for the last 8 years. I want to upgrade to a mid-sized SUV. Which of the current options would you recommend? My driving is about 7,000-8,000 km per year, with a mix of both city and highway driving. My budget can go up to Rs 24 lakh, and I am thinking of opting for ADAS features to keep the car relevant and modern for the next 8-10 years.
Considering you keep your cars for a long time, we would suggest the recently launched Kia Seltos. We recommend the petrol variant, considering you drive below 10,000 km per year. Within your budget, you can get the top-of-the-line GTX (A) or X-Line (A) variant with the CVT automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, though not the most powerful on paper, has enough poke for city driving and is well-mated to the automatic gearbox, which makes city driving easy. It also comes well-loaded with features and includes Level 2 ADAS, which is one of your requirements.
If you are looking for extra performance, you can also consider the turbo petrol version, but the driving experience won’t be as smooth, and fuel efficiency will be lower. You could also consider the Hyundai Creta, which falls within your budget. However, note that the Creta is due to be replaced by early next year.

I currently own a 2016 Ford Aspire and am now looking for an automatic crossover SUV. A smooth drive, reliability, and a premium-feeling cabin are my main requirements. I was considering the Victoris and Honda Elevate, but the Seltos HTK CVT now looks like a good value for money. My question is whether the CVT transmission and naturally aspirated petrol engine of the Seltos Petrol NA are equally reliable as those of Honda. I am specifically doubtful about Kia’s CVT. Please advise.
The Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta have been using the 1.5 NA petrol and CVT combination since 2019 and 2020, respectively, and not only is this powertrain a popular choice among buyers, but over the years, it has also been quite reliable too.
The new Seltos simply carries forward this tried-and-tested 1.5 NA petrol CVT combination. Overall, the new Seltos will feel like a proper upgrade over your existing car, and is certainly one we'd recommend.

I have booked the new Seltos HTK(O) IVT, which is yet to be delivered. Since the new Duster has been launched and looks promising, should I wait for it or continue with the new Seltos? What would be the comparison? My main usage will be commuting to the office, with 90% city driving. Once a month or once every two months, I will drive out of the city.
First things first, you really won't go wrong with the Kia Seltos HTK(O) IVT. The Seltos is a well-packaged SUV with a roomy cabin and plenty of new-age features, but it's the IVT gearbox that makes it especially well-suited to your needs. The IVT is very smooth and works beautifully with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, and is best enjoyed in city driving conditions.
However, if you can, the new Renault Duster could be worth the wait. The powertrain of interest would be the strong hybrid, which is expected around October 2026. Renault claims that 80% of city driving can be on electric power alone, which would make the powertrain extremely efficient. The Duster's also got a rugged feel that the Seltos doesn't quite match.
We'll drive the turbo-petrol versions of the Duster in March. Stay tuned for our reviews!

I have shortlisted the new 2026 Seltos HTE(O) or HTK variant, as I am replacing my current SX4. However, it seems that neither variant has a rear windscreen defogger. My questions are: A) Will this be a challenge during the monsoons? B) Is there any alternative way to manage without a defogger?
We understand your concern regarding the absence of a defogger on the Kia Seltos HTE(O). However, the Seltos HTK that you are also considering does get a rear defogger and rear wiper function. We'd urge you to opt for the HTK for the safety these features bring in. Remember, you would want the best view in low visibility conditions, such as during heavy rains.
Poor rear visibility can impact your judgement and will be a challenge in the monsoons. It is best to go with a factory-fitted solution.

I am looking to upgrade my car by this Diwali. My budget is Rs 20-22 Lakhs. I have shortlisted Seltos HTX A IVT and Sierra Accomplished TGDI AT. Which one do you suggest, considering my annual run will be 7-8k km, with 4k km in NCR and the remaining on highways? Though I initially wanted a 7-seater, mileage is a concern. I was considering the 7XO and Safari.
Given the limited running you are doing, most of it on the highway, the Tata Sierra with the 1.5 TGDI and 6-speed AT is a better option than the Seltos 1.5 NA with the IVT or CVT transmission.
The Seltos is a good car, no doubt, and more soundly engineered than the Sierra, but what we like about the Sierra is the powertrain, which is punchy, refined and has smooth gear shifts. Whilst the Seltos 1.5 with the CVT would be great in the city and in stop-and-go traffic, the CVT’s ‘rubber band’ effect would make the engine sound a bit loud or strained at high speeds.

Hi team, I have been using a Baleno Delta MT for the past 9 years and am now looking to change my car. My preference is a midsize SUV with an automatic transmission. My budget is around Rs 15 lakh. Please suggest a good option.
If you want to buy a midsize SUV, we would suggest stretching your budget slightly, as the automatic versions of the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos sit just above this price point.
Among these, the recently launched Seltos HTE(O) CVT stands out as the best pick. While the model itself is new, the 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with the CVT automatic is a proven and reliable powertrain that has been in use across earlier Seltos models and several Hyundai cars for years.
This Kia car also offers good space and a comfortable ride, and even the lower HTE(O) variant is well-equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 60:40 split folding rear seat.

I am looking for a mid-size SUV under Rs 17 lakh and have narrowed it down to the Honda Elevate and the new Kia Seltos. Most of my driving will be on highways, and I prefer a manual transmission. Which one should I choose?
Between the two options, you can go ahead with the Kia Seltos, the HTK(O) MT variant. The new Seltos is longer and wider than the Elevate, giving you more space. It is also better equipped than Elevate.
Elevate's noise insulation is not the best in the segment, and a fair amount of engine noise and road noise enters the cabin, which can be bothersome on highway journeys.

I am looking for a petrol automatic mid-size SUV for city use, to comfortably seat five adults and with a decent boot. I am not keen on Tata or Mahindra. My on-road budget is ₹15 lakh. Please suggest suitable options.
The way car prices have gone up, the more desirable variants of mid-size segment SUVs are now costing around 18 lakhs and above. However, there are a few products where the lower variants too have been given good features, like the Kia Seltos.
The Seltos HTK 1.5 CVT fits close to your budget and does not feel like a bare-bones variant. The latest Seltos is longer and more spacious than before, comfortably seats five adults, and offers a 447-litre boot, which is among the best in the segment.
The other option is Citroen Aircross X Turbo Petrol AT. It's not as feature-loaded as others in the segment, but it comes with a solid engine, a smooth gearbox and offers excellent ride quality. If you remove the third row, you get a practical 444 litre boot.

I’m looking for a family car with comfort as the top priority. My usage is mostly in the city, with occasional highway runs to the airport. I want something reliable and easy-going. I am considering the Kia Sonet GTX, Hyundai Venue HX10, Honda Elevate ZX, and Kia Seltos HTX(A) IVT. I’m looking for your opinion.
We would rule out the Kia Sonet as it is a compact SUV and much smaller than the Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos, and hence, both comfort and luggage space won’t be anywhere near as good.
Between the Seltos and the Elevate, we suggest you opt for the new Seltos, which is better than the Elevate in many ways. Firstly, the Kia Seltos’s 1.5 engine is smoother, and the iVT transmission is much better than Elevate’s CVT, which has much more of the ‘rubber band’ effect where the engine makes a straining sound when revved.
The new Seltos’s interiors are far more plush, and the back seat is comfortable too. The new Seltos has a larger boot than before, which is very useful for your airport runs.

Hi sir, I am planning to buy a mid-size SUV and am currently confused between the Sierra Turbo Petrol, Harrier Petrol, and Kia Seltos Diesel. My budget is around Rs 23 to 24 lakh. I have shortlisted the Sierra Adventure Plus AT, Harrier Adventure X Plus AT, and Kia Seltos HTX Diesel AT. Which offers the best comfort for family use? I am specifically looking for an automatic transmission. Please suggest.
The Tata Harrier is a full-sized SUV and is larger than both the Sierra and Seltos. Hence, if comfort is your priority, the Harrier is the one to go for. The Harrier petrol AT drives brilliantly too, and the 1.5 turbo-petrol is more powerful and refined than in the Sierra, which shares the same engine.
The Kia Seltos diesel won’t offer the same refined and plush feel as the Harrier, which feels more premium and upmarket.
