Hi. I'm a first time car buyer. Want to buy a spacious and comfortable car within 11 lakhs. I don't have much of a driving experience so the car should be easy to drive and maintain. Much of the car use would be within the city and my monthly run of around 200kms. I'm considering both manual as well as automatic options. I would like to know your suggestions.
We would suggest you consider the Hyundai i20 IVT. The gearbox is smooth, the cabin is spacious, and within your budget, you can get the Sportz (O) variant. It is compact, easy to drive and park in the city, and also offers a reasonably large boot.
If you want something slightly larger, you can consider the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It is more spacious inside, more comfortable for a larger family and also has a bigger boot. The AMT gearbox is not as smooth as the CVT in the i20, but it is well-tuned and will also be more efficient.
I am planning to buy a car around ₹11 lakhs. I prefer top-end variants with automatic transmission. I tried Hyundai AMT, which I didn't like at all because of the jerks in gear shifts. Currently, I have a 2022 Venue Top End, so coming from DCT, AMT seems so sluggish. Please suggest some good options.
The Honda Amaze CVT is a good pick for you. Its CVT gearbox is smooth and delivers a pleasant driving experience, superior to what you'd get with AMTs in the same price band. The Amaze CVT in fully-loaded VX form fits your budget and is worth a look.
You could also look at the Tata Altroz DCT in Accomplished S trim. It's well equipped and, while performance is unexciting, the gearbox is very smooth.
Other options we'd recommend considering include the Nissan Magnite CVT, Renault Kiger CVT and Hyundai i20 CVT. Do note, their top-end versions are pricier than Rs 11 lakh.

If you are looking for a smooth automatic experience, a CVT is your best option. While most cars in this price range use an AMT like your Celerio, there are two options with CVTs – the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Amaze. Both these cars get 1.2-litre four-cylinder engines mated to CVT transmissions that are smooth and easy to use. Both have reasonably roomy cabins, but the Amaze has the advantage of a larger boot. It is also the newer car and therefore gets our vote.
With regard to your query about the Punch EV, there is no denying that it is a phenomenal city car. However, your limited commute of just 20km does not really justify an EV. Also, in our real-world test of the previous Punch EV we managed 216km on a full charge on the highway. The new Punch EV will improve on that with its larger battery pack, but the range might still be a limiting factor on your monthly road trips.
Before you decide, do take a test drive of all these cars.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Petrol-AMT is an excellent, user-friendly city car. The engine is smooth, refined and fuel-efficient. Do keep in mind that the drive experience with the AMT will not be nearly as seamless as your Micra CVT, however by AMT standards, the Nios' unit is quite smooth. So if you are on a tight budget, go for the Nios. But if you can extend your budget slightly, we'd highly recommend you to consider the Hyundai i20 Magna Petrol-IVT. Not only is the i20 a much bigger, more spacious and more premium offering, but its petrol-IVT combination is smooth and seamless, something as a Nissan Micra CVT owner, you will appreciate.
