Tata Punch facelift teased

Tata Motors has teased the Punch facelift via its official social media handles. Closely matching what we predicted in a previous article, Tata also confirmed that the latest avatar of its sub-4-metre SUV will be unveiled on January 13, 2026. Let us now look at some of the design and technical aspects of the 2026 Tata Punch, as revealed in the official teasers.

  1. First major update for the ICE-powered Punch since its launch in 2021
  2. Punch facelift gets a revised front fascia, redesigned alloy wheels and new LED lights
  3. A turbo-petrol engine will be available with the Punch for the first time

The facelift’s styling is mostly unique, with some cues borrowed from its EV counterpart.

The teaser showcases the front fascia of the 2026 Tata Punch, featuring an entirely new bumper with black cladding and a silver surround for the air dam. The upper portion of the bumper gets dual air-intake slits, while its lower corners house air curtains. Above these are the Punch facelift’s new vertically stacked LED headlights, similar to what is seen on the Punch EV. While the latter has a full-width LED bar, the ICE-powered Punch facelift gets a black trim in the middle flanked by sleek LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). A front-facing camera is clearly visible on the lower air-intake slit, which, when combined with a noticeable bulge underneath the outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), is indicative of a surround-view camera system.

The Punch facelift’s top trims will come with new alloy wheels, whose design looks more intricate than what we see in the existing model. At the back, the 2026 Tata Punch gets connected tail-lights set in black plastic trim. Finally, the Tata logos seen up front and on the tailgate of the Punch facelift are different from the ones on the pre-facelift model. As seen in earlier spy shots, the 2026 Punch will retain the older model’s general silhouette while offering buyers at least a couple of new colour options.

The Punch facelift will primarily be powered by the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine found in the pre-facelift model. A first for the sub-4-metre SUV is the inclusion of a turbo-petrol engine as a new option, the power output of which has yet to be officially revealed. As per a new teaser shared by Tata Motors, this turbo-petrol engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

When fuelled solely with petrol, the existing naturally aspirated petrol engine makes 88hp and 115Nm of torque, with the figures falling to 73.5hp and 103Nm when running on CNG. The petrol-only variants are currently available with a choice of a 5-speed AMT or a 5-speed manual transmission, while the CNG variants are only offered with the manual gearbox – this configuration will mostly remain unchanged with the facelift.
