Tata Altroz turbo petrol prices go down; other variants see price hike

    This is the second price hike for the Altroz in two months; prices for turbo-petrol variants have been reduced by up to Rs 8,000.

    Tata Motors has recently hiked the prices of the Altroz hatchback, with the petrol variants now being more expensive by up to Rs 15,000, while prices for the diesel variants have gone up by a maximum of Rs 20,000. Similar to the Nexon, this too is part of the price hike that Tata Motors announced at the beginning of this year due to rising input and operational costs.

    Notably, this is the second price hike for the Altroz in a span of two months, with the previous one having come only in November 2021.

    Tata Altroz petrol: price hike

    Prices for the naturally aspirated petrol variants of the Altroz have gone up in the range of Rs 5,000 – Rs 15,000. The mid-spec XM+ variant sees the maximum hike in price. Prices for the top-spec XZ+ variant, however, remains unchanged, although the Dark Edition that’s based on the XZ+ variant sees a price hike of Rs 5,000.

    While prices for the naturally aspirated petrol variants have gone up, interestingly, Tata Motors has reduced the prices for most turbo-petrol variants of the Altroz. It’s only the base XT variant that sees a hike of Rs 2,000, while prices of other variants have gone down by up to Rs 8,000.

    Tata Altroz diesel: price hike

    Diesel versions of the Altroz see a more significant hike in price. Depending on the variant, prices have gone up in the range of Rs 5,000-20,000. It is again the mid-spec XM+ variant that sees the maximum hike in price. Prices for the Altroz diesel now start from Rs 7.04 lakh and top out at Rs 9.64 lakh.

    Tata Altroz: engine and gearbox options

    The Tata Altroz is available with three engine options under its hood: there’s the 86hp, 113Nm, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine; a 110hp, 140Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 90hp, 200Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine. All three engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There is still no automatic gearbox option on the Altroz, although all of its rivals are offered with one. While Tata has been working on a dual-clutch automatic gearbox for the Altroz for some time, a launch timeline for the same is yet to be revealed.
