Skoda has released new teasers of the Superb facelift in the run-up to its official global reveal at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia, which will end on May 26, 2019.

The image and video revealed by Skoda shows that the refreshed Superb sedan gets full Matrix LED headlamps, LED fog lights, full LED tail-lamps and dynamic indicators. Also, instead of the Skoda emblem, the updated sedan's bootlid has the brand name spelled out across it. However, its silhouette is near identical to the current Superb that is on sale in India priced between Rs 25.99 lakh to Rs 33.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Skoda has claimed that the new Superb will be equipped with passive and active safety features that are usually offered on more expensive models, and will be even more comfortable than the current car.

As seen in the teaser revealed last week, the Superb facelift will feature a plug-in hybrid option, likely to be the same 1.4 TSI petrol-electric powertrain that is used in the Volkswagen Passat GTE, with which it shares a platform.

The Superb's cabin is expected to be similar to the Skoda Scala hatchback, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration likely to be made standard across the range.

Skoda India has not yet revealed when it will bring the refreshed model to our market, but it is expected to launch some time soon. Meanwhile, the VW Group subsidiary is taking the lead on the German conglomerates’ India 2.0 plan, which will see the introduction of the India-spec Skoda Kamiq and then an all-new Skoda Rapid. Both models will be based on a heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform and will be powered by BS-VI-compliant turbo-petrol engines assembled at the brand’s plant in Chakan.
