Skoda Kushaq prices up by Rs 70,000

Skoda India has increased the prices of the Kushaq SUV for the second time since its debut in 2021. Additionally, the carmaker also introduced two more variants of the midsize SUV in April 2022 – Active Peace and Ambition Classic.

Like most manufacturers, Skoda too has attributed the hike to rising operational and input costs. Kushaq’s sister-SUV Taigun saw a price hike as well recently of about Rs 60,000.

Skoda Kushaq prices: May 2022

The Czech automaker has priced the manual variants of the Kushaq from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which go all the way up to Rs 17.19 lakh. Meanwhile, automatic variants of the midsize SUV now start from Rs 14.09 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and go upto Rs 18.79 lakh. Interestingly, Skoda has silently deleted the Style 1.0 TSI variant with a manual transmission and six airbags.

Sources tell us that the recently introduced entry-level Kushaq Active Peace variant will most likely be limited to a few hundred units. Post that, Active MT will be the new entry point in the line-up, priced at Rs 11.29 lakh, thus upping the entry-price by around Rs 1.3 lakh.  

Coming to its automatic variants, prices now start at Rs 14.09 lakh, with top-spec variant costing Rs 18.79 lakh. However, Skoda has not upped the price of the Style 1.0 TSI AT variant, which continues to be Rs 16.09 lakh. Additionally, the Kushaq Monte Carlo will see a market launch on May 9 and will be the new top-spec variant.

Skoda Kushaq prices: how do they compare to the Taigun? 

As mentioned above, the Volkswagen Taigun also received a price hike across its variants, now starting from Rs 11.39 lakh-18.59 lakh. Additionally, VW also equipped the Taigun with new standard features across its variants – tyre pressure monitoring system and engine idle start/stop, which the Kushaq gets only on its top-spec variant for now.
