Next-gen Hyundai Venue launch details

The new-gen Hyundai Venue will launch in India on November 4. Internally codenamed the QU2i, the upcoming Venue will see a thorough exterior and interior overhaul but is expected to remain mechanically unchanged. This will be the first generational update for the Venue since the model was first introduced in May 2019.

  1. New Venue expected to continue with same petrol and diesel engines
  2. Spy shots have hinted at a new Creta-like design
  3. Expected to be more premium and feature-packed on the inside

What to expect from next-gen Hyundai Venue?

Spy shots of the upcoming second-gen Venue have hinted that the compact SUV will retain the upright and boxy proportions of the existing model but will have design details that take it closer to the current Creta. It’s expected to boast a split headlamp arrangement with a vertical LED DRL element; the grille will also be much larger with a new rectangular design motif.

In profile, it will have thicker body cladding over the wheel arches, new 16-inch alloy wheels, sharper wing mirrors and a redesigned glasshouse. It is also expected to get a new design for the connected LED tail-lamp arrangement.

The interior of the Venue will see a thorough overhaul as well. Spy shots have hinted at an all-new dashboard with a new twin-screen setup (much like the Creta), and new switchgear and steering wheel. There could also be some additions on the equipment front, such as a 360-degree camera setup, an upgraded Level 2 ADAS suite, and more.

Next-gen Venue to carry forward existing engines

Mechanically, the next-gen Venue is anticipated to retain the trio of engines utilised in the current model: a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, an 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel. The base NA petrol engine is only available with a 5-speed MT, while the turbo-petrol comes with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT; the diesel only gets a 6-speed MT.

Last updated with a facelift in June 2022, the Venue is consistently a strong seller for the brand, averaging about 7,000-8,000 units a month. As a compact SUV, it sits in one of the most crowded and competitive segments. The next-gen Venue will continue to rival the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and others.
