Honda’s smallest sedan, the Amaze, will see a full model change later this year. The third-gen Amaze will replace the second-gen model, which has been around since 2018, when it goes on sale by Diwali 2024.

    1. Third-gen Amaze to sit on City, Elevate platform
    2. Will get fresh looks, inside-out
    3. Will continue to be feature-laden

Next-gen Honda Amaze will be new grounds up

Sources tell us that the platform that underpins the City and Elevate will also see duty on the next Amaze, with some modifications; particularly a much shorter wheelbase than the City's 2,600mm and the Elevate's 2,650mm, to bring the overall length of the Amaze under four metres. The current Amaze has a wheelbase that is 2,470mm long – a good 130mm shorter than the City. This will help Honda consolidate its India lineup from two platforms to one, and help increase economies of scale.

While not much is known about how the new Amaze's look, sources tell us that Honda’s entry-level sedan will continue with its stylish design cues, which will match larger Honda sedans sold abroad. In fact, the design of the second-gen Amaze was also inspired by the Accord of the time, and a similar approach could be followed for the third-gen model.

As far as interiors go, expect the third-gen Honda Amaze to get a fresh cabin layout, possibly with a much larger, free-standing touchscreen setup seen on the Elevate. There will likely be sharing of interior components with other Honda models in India in order to keep costs in check.

Next-gen Honda Amaze will be petrol-only

For the third-gen Amaze, Honda is expected carry over the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine from the current model. This engine produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Honda had ditched diesel engines in India, which means the new Amaze will continue to be sold with the lone petrol engine, like the current car.

Next-gen Honda Amaze India launch timeline

As reported by us earlier, Honda will bring the new Amaze in the second half of this year, most likely around the Diwali 2024 season. Upon launch, the new Amaze will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Dzire (an all-new model is due in a few months), the Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor.
