Honda took the wraps off three EV SUV concepts at last year’s Shanghai motor show, and now, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has info that suggests that two models – the E:NS2 and E:NP2 – will go on sale in the near future. The EV SUVs are near-identical except for their lights and bumpers.

    2. GAC-built e:NP2 gets horizontal DRLs
    3. Both EV SUVs have the same dimensions, battery and motor

    Honda E:NS2, E:NP2: design

As with the outgoing e:NS1 and e:NP1 EVs that are currently on sale in China, the E:NS2 and E:NP2 will also be built by Dongfeng and GAC, respectively. However, unlike the HR-V-based e:NS1 and e:NP1, which were identical save for the colour of their charging port and grille, the E:NS2 and E:NP2 have greater distinction. The e:NS2 sports angular LED Daytime Running Lamps that are reminiscent of Peugeot’s cars, while the e:NP2 closely resembles newer Hondas like the latest Civic sold overseas.

A design element that's common to both EV SUVs is the broad horizontal bars on the front and rear bumpers, which makes those bits look like high-tech air conditioning units. The sloping rear roofline gives both models a more crossover-like look, rather than a typical upright SUV.

The MIIT filings tell us that Honda’s new EV SUVs get a single motor generating 204hp from a 68.8kWh battery. The spec sheet also reveals that both models have an identical wheelbase, width and height – 2,735mm, 1,840mm and 1,570 mm, respectively – though the overall lengths are just 1mm apart, with the NP2 being longer.

    Honda EVs for India

There is no word on if Honda will bring these two models to India. However, the Japanese brand’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project, which will spawn the Elevate-based EV, is in full swing in the country. The Elevate-based EV is expected to launch in India in 2026, and Honda has already begun retooling its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
