    New MG Astor Savvy with ADAS priced from Rs 15.78 lakh

    Over a week after the MG Astor was launched in India, MG has revealed the cost for the car’s ADAS package on the Sharp trim. The prices for the Astor range between Rs 9.78-16.78 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and at the time of the launch, MG had said that the ADAS package will be offered as an optional extra only on the top-spec Sharp trim.

    Now, MG has finally revealed the prices of the ADAS package on the Sharp trim, which actually come together to make for a new top-spec – ‘Savvy’ trim. The new MG Astor Savvy has been priced between Rs 15.78-17.38 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and is only available in automatic guise.

    MG Astor Savvy: pricing and ADAS features

    Prices for the Astor Savvy start from Rs 15.78 lakh, which means the optional ADAS package on the 1.5-litre petrol CVT variant has been priced at Rs 80,000. If you opt for the Sangria Red interior on the Astor Savvy, the prices further go up by Rs 10,000, taking it to Rs 15.88 lakh, ex-showroom.

    Meanwhile, the Astor Savvy with the 1.3-litre petrol AT variant costs Rs 17.38 lakh and already comes specced with the Sangria Red interior. Here, the ADAS package costs Rs 60,000 more than the Sharp trim which is priced at Rs 16.78 lakh.

    For the additional money, the ADAS package brings in Level-2 autonomous driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection and lane-keeping assist and lane departure warning. Other safety features on the MG Astor include up to six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESP, traction control, hill start and hill descent control.

    MG Astor: engine and gearbox options

    Under the hood, the MG Astor gets two petrol engine options. The first is a 110hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine which comes mated to a five-speed manual or eight-step CVT automatic gearbox. The other option is a 140hp, 220Nm, 1.3-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that comes mated to only a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

    The MG Astor sits in the hotly contested midsize SUV segment where it rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia SeltosNissan KicksRenault DusterSkoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. Compared to its rivals, the Astor has one of the lowest starting prices in the segment, only more expensive than the Nissan Kicks. Even the CVT automatic variants of the Astor are on the more affordable side as compared to its rivals.

    At the top-end of the spectrum, the Astor is again more affordable than its rivals, even with its optional ADAS package. In fact, it is only more expensive than the Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster at the top-end. It is thus fair to say that MG has pretty much nailed the pricing of the Astor.
