The all-new Hyundai Verna will debut globally tomorrow, and in the lead up to the launch, new and more detailed spy images of both the petrol and turbo-petrol variants have emerged on the Internet. These new spy shots reveal that the two powertrains will have different exterior and interior treatment. Let’s take a closer look at it here.

    1. New Verna to get two interior colour options
    2. Verna turbo will come with black alloys, red calipers
    3. Minor differences in equipment list expected

Hyundai Verna petrol vs turbo-petrol: exterior and interior

Hyundai seems to have adopted a similar strategy as Volkswagen did with the Virtus GT, with clear visual differentiation between the petrol and turbo-petrol variants. The spy images reveal blacked-out alloy wheels with red brake calipers for the 1.5 turbo-petrol variants, with a similar treatment meted out to the interior – all-black colour scheme with red highlights along the AC vents.

Previously spied interior images have also revealed a dual-tone black and beige dashboard finish with beige upholstery for the seats. This will likely be offered on the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol variants. Meanwhile, the alloys will have a dual-tone silver and dark grey finish with regular calipers. Hyundai does something similar with the naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol variants of the Creta.

New spy shots confirm more features

The new spy shots also reveal an electronic parking brake with auto-hold feature for the DCT automatic variants, while the manual versions make do with a regular handbrake. Furthermore, the dual 10.25-inch screens will likely be reserved for top-spec trims – lower and mid-spec trims will get a smaller infotainment screen with larger bezels in the same housing.

Other features that can be confirmed from the spy images are drive modes, parking assist feature, and ventilated front seats. Higher-spec variants of the Verna will also come equipped with ADAS features.

    Hyundai Verna: powertrain specifications

As we already know, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine on the Verna will produce 160hp and 253Nm, while the naturally aspirated petrol engine will produce 115hp and 144Nm of torque. While both engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, the NA and turbo will also get a CVT and DCT as an option, respectively.

New Hyundai Verna variants and rivals

The next-gen Verna will be offered in four trims – EX, S, SX and SX (O). Expect it to be priced roughly Rs 60,000-1 lakh more than the current model, depending on the variant. Once launched, it will rival the facelifted Honda CityVolkswagen VirtusSkoda Slavia and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
