2023 Hyundai Verna interior

Just days ahead of the new Hyundai Verna’s global unveiling, a fresh set of spy shots give us the first undisguised look at the complete interior of the upcoming sedan. Just like the exterior, the interior too has been completely overhauled, and as was teased before, the biggest highlight is the dual-screen infotainment layout.

  1. New Verna will get ADAS features on higher trims
  2. Expected to come with noticeable improvement in build, quality
  3. All-new Verna to globally debut on March 21

New Hyundai Verna interior: what do the spy shots reveal?

At first glance, the interior of the new Verna seems to have a close resemblance with that of the new BMW X1 – particularly the upper part of the dashboard – and that’s a good thing. The twin, 10.25-inch screen layout that’s slightly tilted towards the driver, the seamlessly integrated AC vents in the dashboard and the colours are uncannily similar between the two models.

The lower part of the dashboard houses a neatly integrated stack of controls for what will be a switchable unit for controlling the infotainment system and HVAC – two rotary knobs and a mix of physical and touch-sensitive haptic buttons. This feature too has been teased before.

What’s also interesting is a new design for the two-spoke, multi-function steering wheel, which has not been seen on any Hyundai in India before. Elsewhere, a wireless charging pad can be seen on the centre console, which also doubles up as a rather big storage area.

And although it's hard to comment on fit and finish from just images, the new Verna seems to have taken a notable step up in quality. The dashboard is elegant, minimalist and techy, and higher variants will also come equipped with ADAS. The upcoming sedan is also larger than its predecessor, so one can expect an improvement in interior space as well.

New Hyundai Verna dimensions, powertrains

The new Hyundai Verna will measure 4,535mm in length, 1,765mm in width, making it longer and wider than the outgoing model, although its height remains the same at 1,475mm. It will also have a 528-litre boot, which is 50 litres more than its predecessor.

Hyundai will offer two 1.5-litre petrol engines with the new Verna – a 115hp naturally aspirated unit and a 160hp turbocharged unit. The former will be available with the lower variants, while the turbo will be reserved for higher variants. While both engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, the NA and turbo will get a CVT and DCT as an option, respectively.

New Hyundai Verna variants and rivals

The next-gen Verna will be offered in four trims – EX, S, SX and SX (O). Expect it to be priced roughly Rs 60,000-1 lakh more than the current model, depending on the variant. Once launched, it will rival the facelifted Honda CityVolkswagen VirtusSkoda Slavia and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
