UPDATE: MG Hector: Which variant to buy?

MG Motor India has just launched its first offering in our market – the Hector – at an introductory price of Rs 12.18 lakh for the base Style variant. The Hector’s price range goes all the way up to Rs 16.88 lakh for the top-end diesel Sharp trim.

The MG Hector gets a choice of a 143hp, 1.5-litre petrol and a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine. There is also a 48V mild-hybrid option available with the petrol engine that is about 12 percent more fuel efficient than the petrol-only variant (ARAI ratings of 15.81kpl and 14.16kpl, respectively. The mild-hybrid system will also provide up to 20Nm of additional torque at low speeds to help counter turbo lag and provide better acceleration in stop-start city traffic. Although the petrol engine variants get a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the diesel engine variants only come as 6-speed manual offerings.

MG will offer the Hector SUV in four trim levels – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. We take a detailed look at what each of these variants offer in terms of features and how much they cost.
