Kia is expected to introduce a diesel iMT version of the Seltos in the Indian market, which will be priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and will be available in a single variant at launch. The Seltos diesel iMT is currently the only vehicle in India to be sold with a diesel-iMT configuration.

    • Available only in the HTK Plus variant
    • Gets several safety features as standard

Kia, like Hyundai, has been offering the iMT gearbox in their petrol-powered models, but it is the first time it is pairing the gearbox with a diesel engine. Additionally, Kia has updated the Seltos’ suspension, as well as introduced Sparkling Silver and Imperial Blue colour options.

Kia Seltos diesel: First in segment with an iMT gearbox

Kia has introduced a new 6-speed iMT clutchless manual gearbox with the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine on the Seltos. The diesel motor is now available with three gearbox options – a 6-speed manual, torque converter and now the iMT. The iMT gearbox is available only with the mid-level HTK Plus variant. Hyundai also recently introduced the iMT on the Creta petrol.

    Kia Seltos: new features expected

According to dealers, in addition to the new gearbox, Kia is likely to introduce some features to the Seltos. Most notably, safety equipment such as rear disc brakes, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and side airbags could be standard across all variants. Curtain airbags will be offered from the HTX Plus variant, while Traction/Drive modes and paddle shifters would now be available in the HTX trims as well.  Also, along with this update, all variants of the Seltos will come with dual front and front side airbags as standard along with rear disc brakes.

Updates to the Seltos would include several new additions, like the Seltos and Kia Connect logos, inside rear view mirror with Kia Connect button, and updated 16-inch wheel covers on the HTE and HTK variants. Moreover, the new Seltos will be offered with two more colour options – Sparkling Silver and Imperial Blue.

    Kia Seltos: Rivals in India

Kia Seltos rivals other midsize SUVs in the market like the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and the Nissan Kicks.
