New Hyundai EV hatchback: i10 replacement for Europe

The as yet unnamed car could be a successor to the Hyundai i10 (sold as Grand i10 Nios in India), and will join 11 other EVs the brand plans to release in Europe by 2030. The city car will also rival similar projects being undertaken by the Volkswagen Group in Europe under its VW, Skoda and Cupra brands, which will be priced similar to the Hyundai.

However, a production-ready version of the Korean brand’s car is still a little while off, Hyundai Motor Europe marketing chief Andreas-Christoph Hofmann told Automotive News Europe. The move towards affordable small cars, especially electric ones, comes as manufacturers look at complying with newer, stricter emission regulations.

Hyundai’s electric vehicle plans for India: Six EVs by 2028

While there is no confirmation of the ID.3 rival making it to India, Hyundai has already announced that the new Ioniq 5 will go on sale here sometime next year. The Ioniq 5 is part of Hyundai’s plan to launch six EVs in India by 2028.  Of those, a model of particular interest for buyers will be the made-in-India mass-market EV converted from an existing ICE (internal combustion engine) platform that’s slated to launch before the end of 2024.
