The India-spec Hyundai Creta facelift has now been spied testing on our roads for the first time, just a couple of months after being spotted in South Korea. As we've reported before, Hyundai is readying an all-new design for the Creta that will be completely different from the versions sold in the ASEAN countries or even Brazil and South Africa. These fresh spy shots reveal some interesting details, so let’s have a closer look.

    1. Creta facelift will share powertrains with upcoming Seltos facelift
    2. Expected to get new features like ADAS, 360-deg camera
    3. Market launch expected in February 2024

Hyundai Creta facelift: what do the spy shots reveal?

Unlike the Tucson-like design that the Creta has in other markets, the India-spec Creta facelift seems inspired by the Palisade SUV sold overseas. The test mule is heavily camouflaged, but the key giveaway is the vertical headlamp cluster that’s likely a split unit and has Palisade-like LED Daytime Running Lamps. Previous spy shots have also hinted at an all-new grille with cube-like detailing that again closely matches the Palisade. Whether the Creta adopts a full-width LED light bar up front like the new Verna is something we’ll have to find out.

Elsewhere, the Creta facelift can be seen wearing a new set of alloy wheels that’s currently available on the Alcazar. These are larger 18-inch units, which means Hyundai will also have to retune the suspension to balance the ride quality. The SUV can also be seen with wing-mirror-mounted cameras, suggesting there could be 360-degree camera on offer, along with ADAS features. The latter is also going to be made available on the upcoming Seltos facelift.

At the back, expect a redesigned tail gate, a new bumper and new LED tail-lights, perhaps connected by an LED light bar as seen on other Hyundai SUVs – though nothing is visible on this test mule. There has also been no sighting of the interior yet, but a refreshed dashboard design with a notable step up in features could very well be on the cards.

    Hyundai Creta facelift engine options

The Creta facelift is expected to continue with the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol engine options. The 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, which made its debut on the Verna, will also see duty on the Creta facelift. However, it remains to be seen if Hyundai introduces this engine with the current Creta itself.

    Hyundai Creta facelift launch timeline

Sources tell us that Hyundai will start building the facelifted Creta at its Chennai plant by mid-January 2024, with a market launch likely in February next year. Hyundai will, however, introduce another important product in India, the Exter micro-SUV, that will go on sale on July 10.
