Hyundai teases new design details of Bayon

Hyundai has teased the exterior design of the upcoming Bayon, just days after releasing design sketches of the new midsize SUV. The latest teasers reveal the SUV’s sharp-looking LED DRLs and taillights, along with its alloy wheel design. The Bayon is expected to sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s India lineup, and will debut in the country during the festive season.

  1. Teasers also reveal Verna-like headlights and front parking sensors
  2. Interior design sketches hint at a 4th-gen i20-like interior (Brazil-spec)
  3. Expected to be offered with a CNG powertrain

The teasers reveal several exterior design elements of the Bayon. Up front, it features a split-type headlight setup, with sleek, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs positioned at the top and the main headlights mounted lower on the bumper, with a design reminiscent of the Verna’s headlights.

In profile, the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels were teased, along with thick black cladding around the wheel arches. Keen-eyed viewers can also spot front parking sensors. Although not clearly visible in the teasers, the doors appear to feature sharp lines.

At the rear, the Bayon sports slim, wraparound inverted L-shaped LED taillights mounted on a thick black strip that appears to connect both units. Other visible elements include a rear wiper and a partially blacked-out C-pillar.

Camouflaged spy shots have also revealed that the Bayon will have a crossover-like design rather than a more upright, boxy appearance. It will feature regular pull-type door handles, functional roof rails, and prominently flared wheel arches.

Upcoming Hyundai Bayon: Other details

Interior design is expected to be similar to the Brazil-spec 4th-gen i20

Hyundai had previously revealed interior design sketches of the Bayon, showcasing a layered dashboard layout with dual digital screens, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and a vertically oriented AC control panel in the centre console. Interestingly, these design elements bear a strong resemblance to the dashboard of the fourth-generation i20, which was revealed in Brazil in June 2026.

Expected to be the first Hyundai model measuring over 4m with a CNG option

The Bayon is expected to be powered by the Creta’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will be offered with both manual and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) options. This engine is also expected to be available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, likely using an underbody-mounted tank. If introduced as expected, this would make the Bayon the first Hyundai model measuring over 4m in length to be offered with a CNG powertrain.

The upcoming Hyundai Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). With its expected CNG option, the Bayon will take on midsize SUVs such as the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, all of which are available with CNG powertrains.
