The Hyundai Bayon range has 12 variants across 8 trims, all with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and one CNG. The manual is offered in seven trims (HX2, HX3, HX3 Plus, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10), while the iVT automatic is offered in four (HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10). A CNG variant is due in January 2027, and it will be Hyundai’s first CNG mid-size SUV in India. The base model is the HX2 MT and the top model is the HX10 iVT.

Which variant gets which features:

  • Six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist and ISOFIX mounts and TPMS are standard across the range, so core safety does not depend on the variant you choose.
  • The base HX2 MT gets ESC, remote locking, anti-theft immobilisation, a 60:40 split rear seat and follow-me-home headlamps. It also gets 16-inch steel wheels with covers and a tyre mobility kit instead of a spare wheel.
  • The iVT automatic starts at the HX5 and adds Dash Boost mode, sporty drive tech and paddle shifters.
  • Higher variants add features such as the panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, the Bose sound system, a wireless charger and 17-inch alloy wheels.
  • The top HX10 iVT gets Level 2 ADAS, with features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, front collision avoidance and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. The 360-degree camera is also limited to higher variants.

Feature availability differs by variant, so check the variant list for the exact features.

Questions you may find useful

I currently drive a Hyundai i10 CNG, with daily running of around 6 km in Gurgaon city traffic and a monthly highway drive of around 200 km. I am now planning to upgrade my car, with an on-road budget of Rs. 12 lakh for a petrol sub-4-metre SUV, up to Rs. 14 lakh for a petrol midsize SUV, and Rs. 15 lakh for an EV. I live in a rented apartment on the second floor, so I am apprehensive about getting an EV. I prefer an EV, but installing a charger could be complicated due to the sanctioned load. My running could increase to nearly 800 km per month in the future. My key priorities are: - Good suspension and ride comfort, as I have a back problem - Decent fuel efficiency in heavy city traffic - Low to medium maintenance costs - Auto hold and ventilated seats would be good to have I sometimes consider buying a manual, but I mostly prefer an automatic. I am currently considering the Maruti Brezza, Baleno AMT, Fronx AMT/AT, Sonet iMT, Exter AMT, and even the upcoming Inster, VF3, and Bayon. I am open to other suggestions as well. Note: I had a bad driving experience with the Punch AMT, as it caused back fatigue.

Given your priorities of ride comfort, fuel efficiency and low maintenance, the Maruti Brezza automatic is the most sensible upgrade. It offers a comfortable ride, a proven naturally aspirated petrol engine and Maruti's strong service network, which keeps long-term ownership costs in check. The torque converter automatic is smooth in city traffic, and the Brezza's higher seating position will help with your back issues. The Sonet iMT is not the right choice here. While it is a good car, the iMT is not a true automatic and will not offer the same ease of use in Gurgaon traffic. The Baleno AMT and Exter AMT are also not ideal given your back issues and the fact that AMT gearboxes are not as smooth as torque converter automatics in stop-start conditions. On the EV front, your apprehension about charging is valid. Without a straightforward home charging solution, an EV will add unnecessary complexity to your ownership experience. The upcoming Bayon is interesting and if you can wait a few weeks you would have a better picture before making a decision. For now, the Brezza automatic strikes the best balance between comfort, efficiency and hassle-free ownership.

I drive around 6-8 km daily in heavy traffic in Gurgaon, with a monthly running of around 220-400 km. I am looking to upgrade from an i10 CNG. I want an automatic car with Auto Hold, good suspension, and stable handling. Features such as a defogger, cruise control, and ventilated seats would be good to have. My on-road budget is around Rs. 15 lakh. I am considering the Syros EV HTK, Nexon EV Creative 45, MG Windsor Exclusive, and Victoris VXi AT. I am also considering waiting for the upcoming Bayon AT, XL6 AT, Hyundai Inster, and updated Fronx. Kindly suggest which would be the best option for my requirements.

For your usage pattern of 6-8 km daily in heavy Gurgaon traffic and a monthly running of 220-400 km, an EV is the most sensible choice. Your running is too low for a diesel or CNG to make financial sense, and the stop-start nature of your commute is where EVs really shine with their smooth, silent operation and negligible running costs. The Kia Syros EV HTK would be our top recommendation from your shortlist. This Kia car offers a well-rounded package with a comfortable ride, a good feature set and a mature ownership experience. The MG Windsor Exclusive is also worth considering if rear seat space is a priority, but the Syros EV feels like the more complete product overall. The Nexon EV Creative 45 is a good value proposition, but the Syros EV feels like the more polished and premium offering. The Victoris VXI AT is a solid petrol alternative, but given your usage and budget, the EV route makes far more sense. As for the upcoming launches, the Bayon AT and Inster are all interesting options, but none are likely to fundamentally change the equation for your specific usage pattern. The Syros EV HTK is the car that will make you happiest after five years of ownership.

Hi, I am planning to upgrade from my Volkswagen Polo 1.2 MPI to an automatic car. My monthly running is around 800 km, mostly in the city. My priorities are excellent NVH levels, comfortable ingress and egress for my elderly parents, and a plush ride quality. I am confused between the Hyundai Venue Turbo Automatic and the Skoda Kylaq Automatic. Should I buy one of these now, or would it be better to wait for upcoming models like the Maruti Suzuki Vision S, Hyundai Bayon, Renault Bridger, Kia Clavis, or the new Kia Sonet? Also, is there any other car that would suit my requirements better? I have also heard that DCT gearboxes are not ideal for heavy city traffic. Is that true?

Go for the Skoda Kylaq automatic. Your priorities are clear: low NVH, easy ingress/egress for elderly parents and good ride quality. The Kylaq delivers on all three. The cabin is well insulated, the ride is comfortable, and the ideal seat height makes getting in and out easy. The 6-speed torque converter automatic is also the right choice for your usage. It is smooth and well suited to city driving, unlike the DCT in the Venue, which can feel hesitant in stop-go traffic. Skoda Kylaq price starts at Rs 7.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Venue turbo DCT is a good Hyundai car, but the Kylaq is the more comfortable and easier-to-live-with option. As for waiting, the Vision S and Bridger are expected later next year; the Bayon will be bigger and more expensive, so none are likely to fundamentally change the equation for your requirements.

I'm a first-time car buyer planning to purchase an automatic petrol car in Q3 2026, mainly for city use and occasional long trips. I want modern features such as a 360° camera, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, etc. My budget is around Rs. 10-12 lakh, but I can extend it to Rs. 14 lakh if the car is feature-rich and offers good safety, ADAS, etc. Initially, I shortlisted the Hyundai i20 Asta variant, but I have heard that it will receive a facelift soon. I have also heard that Hyundai will be launching the Bayon soon. So, I am a little confused about whether it is a good decision to buy a car that is due for a facelift, wait for the Hyundai Bayon launch, or consider other alternatives such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, or Mahindra XUV 3XO. I am avoiding Maruti Suzuki because I have read that the features and safety offered in this price range are not as good as those of the competition. Please advise me. Thanks.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO petrol automatic is a strong fit for your usage. Its smooth 6 speed automatic, light steering and compact footprint make it very easy to live with in the city, especially in traffic and tight parking conditions. Importantly, it already ticks your feature requirements, including a 360° camera, wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, and even ADAS, within your stretched budget of around Rs 14 lakh. It also feels reassuringly solid. The XUV range has built a good safety reputation, and the turbo petrol engine offers strong low end performance, making it well suited to both city driving and occasional highway runs.On the i20, while it remains a well rounded premium hatchback, the current version does miss out on features like a 360° camera and ADAS. There is talk of a facelift, but timelines are not confirmed, and it is unclear whether Hyundai will add these features, so waiting specifically for that may not guarantee what you are looking for.As for the upcoming Bayon, Hyundai is expected to bring it around September, but it will likely be a larger, around 4.3 metre crossover as a Maruti Suzuki Victoris rival and positioned below the Creta. That means it may not be as feature rich in the variants that fall within your budget. It could also end up competing more with mid size SUVs rather than sub 4 metre options. The Venue and Sonet are polished and easy to recommend, but the variants that offer both ADAS and a 360 degree camera tend to stretch well beyond Rs.14 lakh on road.
