UPDATE: 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift launched

The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift has been teased on the company’s website, ahead of its upcoming launch. It reveals the revised front grille of the facelifted Swift, with the website also confirming some of the other changes to the vehicle. The carmaker also teased the updated hatchback in a short video.

  • Updated Swift to get studded mesh design grille with prominent chrome bar
  • Dual-tone colour options also expected to be offered
  • Will be powered by the new 90hp, 1.2-litre DualJet K-Series petrol engine

Maruti Swift facelift: cosmetic changes and features

Starting with the cosmetics, the revised grille now gets a studded mesh-pattern finish as against the current hatchback’s horizontal slat design. There is also more chrome on the nose in the form of a thick chrome strip bisecting the grille, atop which sits the Suzuki logo. The teaser video, on the other hand, gives brief glimpses of the car and reveals that the updated Swift could come with dual-tone colour options. The update car is also expected to sit on new design alloy wheels.

Inside, notable additions to the car include cruise control and a revised instrument cluster with a new, larger coloured multi-information display replacing the old dot-matrix unit. As before, the dials retain the red halo from the outgoing model. The car will also get the addition of engine start-stop technology to provide better fuel economy. The fully-loaded models will come equipped with Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system.

Maruti Swift facelift: engine

Coming to the engine, the facelifted Maruti Swift will be powered by the new 90hp, 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that’s also used in the Dzire; the current car uses an 83hp unit. The unit will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Maruti Swift facelift: rivals

The updated Swift will go up against the Ford Figo and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios when it is launched. However, unlike its two rivals, the Swift will remain a petrol-only model.

Aside from the updated Swift, Maruti Suzuki is also readying the next-gen Celerio for a market launch this year. Also likely to arrive this year is the new second-generation Baleno and Vitara Brezza.
