Tata Motors has launched the Punch facelift in India, with prices starting from Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The sub-compact SUV gets its first major update since it was introduced in 2021, with revised styling, a refreshed cabin with added features, and two new powertrain options including a turbo-petrol engine.

The updated Tata Punch is priced between Rs 5.59 lakh and Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom), and is offered in six trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished+ S.

At the lower end, the starting price is just Rs 10,000 more than the Punch’s original launch price in 2021. In fact, the top-end naturally aspirated petrol is now more affordable than earlier, while the turbo-petrol commands only a Rs 40,000 premium and gets additional equipment. A single-pane sunroof is available as an optional extra on the Pure+ and Adventure trims for an additional Rs 35,000.

The updated Punch adds a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon. This unit makes 120hp and 170Nm, comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and Tata claims it can do 0-100kph in 11.1 seconds. The turbo-petrol is offered with a manual gearbox only.

The Punch also continues with the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol that produces 88hp and 115Nm and is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The petrol+CNG version makes 73hp and 103Nm in CNG mode and can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT; the AMT being a new option.

With the facelift, the Punch’s styling has been updated to match the Punch EV that was launched in 2024. Up front, it gets the same vertically stacked LED headlamps with a triangular shape. The LED DRLs are also new, with a slightly different design, and are housed within a gloss black trim. The redesigned front bumper is finished in black and features silver detailing around the air intake.

From the side, changes are limited to a new set of 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the Punch gets new LED tail-lamps connected by a light bar, along with a revised bumper that now includes a faux silver skid plate. Tata claims the Punch has a 400mm water-wading capacity and a ground clearance of 193mm.

The Punch facelift continues with a similar dashboard layout as before, but it gets a few noticeable updates. There is a new gloss black 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and the climate control panel is now a touch-based unit, similar to the ones on the Nexon and Sierra. The seats continue with fabric upholstery, but the design is based on the Punch EV, with a different colour theme. A notable change is that both the front and rear seats now get extendable thigh support.

On the tech front, the Punch continues with the 10.25-inch touchscreen, but now adds a 7-inch digital driver’s display borrowed from mid-spec variants of the Altroz. It also gets a new 360-degree camera and an 8-speaker sound system with four speakers and four tweeters. Other features include a single-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 65W Type-C fast charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and cruise control.

In the sub-compact SUV segment, the Punch rivals models such as the Hyundai Exter, Citroen C3 and Maruti Ignis. Its price also overlaps with lower variants of compact SUVs like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

Tata claims the Punch has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection. It also comes with a strong safety package, including six airbags as standard. It also gets ESP, rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold and hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

The 2026 Tata Punch is available in six colours: Pristine White, Bengal Rouge, Caramel, Cyantafic, Daytona Grey and Coorg Clouds. Bengal Rouge and Cyantafic get a white roof, while the other shades come with a black roof.
