The facelifted XUV300, dubbed the Mahindra XUV3XO, will be launched in the coming weeks and face fierce competition in the compact SUV space. Here’s all that you need to know about the new Mahindra XUV3XO.

Mahindra XUV3XO: New identity

With the facelift, Mahindra is renaming the XUV300 as the XUV3XO. Just last month, Mahindra filed four new trademarks for names for its upcoming SUVs, with the XUV3XO being one of them. The other names trademarked are XUV1XO, XUV5XO and XUV7XO, and with XUV3XO being confirmed as the XUV300's facelift, it could be a possibility that the XUV700 facelift will be rebranded as the XUV7XO.

Mahindra XUV3XO: Overhauled exterior design

While the complete exterior is yet to be revealed, a teaser video released by Mahindra and numerous spy shots give us a clear-enough picture of what the XUV3XO is going to look like. Updates up front will include a new LED light arrangement, a different LED DRL signature, a revised bumper and a new two-part grille with a larger central air intake. The rear has been completely redone, with a full-width LED light bar, new C-shaped LED tail-lamps and the registration plate is now housed in the bumper instead of on the tailgate. The XUV3XO will also get a new design for the alloys, with a dual-tone finish. Overall, the new XUV3XO’s design is heavily inspired by Mahindra’s BE line-up of SUVs.

Mahindra XUV3XO: Revised interior and new features

Spy shots of the interior have revealed that the XUV3XO will be equipped with a larger, free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the XUV400. In fact, the XUV3XO’s cabin will share a quite a few details with the recently updated XUV400’s cabin. Along with the touchscreen, a10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and rear AC vents are all expected to be a part of the XUV3XO’s interior. Along with the feature additions, it is also likely to get new colours for the upholstery.

Mahindra XUV3XO: New automatic gearbox

The Mahindra XUV3XO will continue with the same engines as the XUV300 – a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol (TGDI). The big talking point in terms of powertrain then is the addition of an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) that’ll be paired with the 131hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine. It is the same unit that also does duty in the Skoda KushaqVolkswagen TaigunSkoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus with their 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. The other two engines will continue using the 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission options as before. Furthermore, the XUV3XO, as we've reported earlier, will also get an EV powertrain later this year.

Mahindra XUV3XO: Launch and rivals

The new Mahindra XUV3XO will debut globally on April 29, but it remains to be seen if the brand will also announce prices on that day. As for the competition, the XUV3XO will continue to rival other compact SUVs like the Nissan MagniteRenault KigerTata NexonKia SonetHyundai VenueMaruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
