The Mahindra XEV 9S will launch on November 27, 2025, as the first mass-market 3-row SUV in India. Notably, Mahindra has been teasing the XEV 9S for some time now, offering clues about what to expect from the upcoming Mahindra EV. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mahindra XEV 9S:
What will be the expected price of the Mahindra XEV 9S?
Likely to be more expensive than the Mahindra XEV 9e.
Given that the XEV 9S will be comparable in size to the XEV 9e, Mahindra will likely price the electric SUV at a premium over the latter. The XEV 9e price starts at Rs 21.90 lakh and tops off at Rs 30.50 lakh, so expect the XEV 9S price to fall in the Rs 25 lakh to 35 lakh price range.

The XEV 9S will be the first mass-market 3-row electric SUV when it launches, so it won’t face any direct competition, at least initially. The only other 3-row EVs available this side of Rs 50 lakh are the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7, both of which are MPVs and, therefore, not comparable to the XEV 9S.
What will the Mahindra XEV 9S look like?
It will get a more conventional styling than BE 6 and XEV 9e.
The XEV 9S will borrow several design cues from the Mahindra XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept that was unveiled in 2022. This is confirmed by the new XEV 9S teaser, which offers brief glimpses of sleek LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and triangular LED headlight units – a setup akin to the XEV 9e’s fascia. As with Mahindra’s INGLO-based models, the XEV 9S will wear the carmaker’s ‘butterfly’ emblem.
Moreover, teasers suggest that the XEV 9S will come with the same dual-tone alloy wheel design as the Mahindra XEV 9e.
Unlike the XEV 9e’s coupe-style sloping roofline, the XEV 9S will sport a more conventional roofline that flows into the rear section, closely resembling that of the XUV700. Other changes include a smoked taillamp treatment and a redesigned bumper.
Which features can you expect in the Mahindra XEV 9S?
Panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system and multiple screens confirmed.
All new-age Mahindra EVs come loaded to the gills with goodies, and the same is expected from the XEV 9S. The teaser has already revealed that the XEV 9S will get an openable panoramic sunroof, unlike the fixed glass roofs in the BE 6 and XEV 9e. This suggests that the XEV 9S’ sunroof is likely to miss out on the lighting effects, like the other two EVs.
The teasers also suggest a triple-screen setup on the dashboard and two additional screens for second-row passengers mounted on the front seats. Content can be synchronised across all passenger displays. Also confirmed is a Harman Kardon sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and leatherette seat upholstery. From the XEV 9e, it could borrow ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, a wireless charger, a 360-degree camera, a powered driver’s seat, and more.
Which battery options will the Mahindra XEV 9S offer?
It may come with AWD.

Mahindra has yet to confirm the battery packs that’ll be offered with the XEV 9S, but it’s likely to carry over the 59kWh and 79kWh LFP units from the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Those two EVs use a single rear-mounted motor with both batteries, but for the XEV 9S, Mahindra may add a front motor for all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability.
