The Mahindra Thar Roxx has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh and going up to Rs 20.49 lakh for the top-spec AX7L 4x2. The brand says that the prices for the 4x4 variants will be announced before October 2. Naturally, the question arises as to how much bigger the 5-door version is, compared to the 3-door Thar, and whether it is more capable off-road. We’ve compared the two models on paper to find out.
Thar Roxx vs Thar 3-door: size, off-road capability
The Thar Roxx is significantly larger on every metric: 443mm longer overall, 50mm wider, up to 79mm taller, and has a 400mm longer wheelbase. These increases should translate to more interior space in the Roxx 5-door, that accommodates five passengers.
Thar Roxx vs Thar 3-door: what else is different
Mahindra claims it has made the Roxx more convenient and practical, as it gets a 447-litre boot, rear AC vents and the side footstep height, which has been lowered by 41mm. Also, the 3-door's hydraulic steering system has been replaced with an electronic one. As we reported earlier, top-spec variants get a large panoramic sunroof, while mid-spec trims have a single-pane sunroof. Our report on Roxx prices and variants explains exactly which features are available with each trim.
