The VF 6 offers a competitive combination of range, performance and features for its price. Buyers should also consider factors such as VinFast's warranty, after-sales support, charging ecosystem and long-term ownership experience before making a purchase.
Questions you may find useful
Hi Autocar Team, I currently own a 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift ZXi (P) and have covered 100,000 km. My daily running is around 90–95 km for my office commute, and I live in Delhi-NCR while working in Greater Noida. I am a family of two, and my ownership experience so far has been completely hassle-free. The Swift is still running perfectly and delivers an average of around 22 km/l. Since I have now crossed the 100,000 km mark, should I consider upgrading? Given my daily running and the fact that I can manage home charging, I feel an EV could suit my requirements. Should I consider the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Alpha or the VinFast VF6 Wind?
Given the usage, the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Alpha is the better fit. A 90- 95 km daily commute, combined with the ability to charge at home, makes an EV a sensible upgrade. The E Vitara is a well-rounded package, backed by Maruti’s extensive service network and established ownership experience. The VinFast VF6 Wind is an interesting alternative, with a larger battery and a longer claimed range. However, VinFast is still a new brand in India and does not have the same service reach or long-term track record as Maruti. The e Vitara’s 50.8kWh battery and 550km ARAI-claimed range are more than adequate for the daily commute, while the service network of Maruti Suzuki cars across Delhi-NCR and Noida is a significant advantage for long-term ownership. The VF6 Wind’s 59.6kWh battery and 525km claimed range are impressive, but its limited service footprint and lack of an established ownership history make it a riskier choice at this stage. The E Vitara Alpha also gets a good set of features, including a 360-degree camera, ADAS and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, making it a well-equipped and practical upgrade from the Maruti Suzuki Swift. The VinFast car does have an advantage in terms of rear-seat and boot space, although for a family of two, the e Vitara should be more than adequate. It also feels more solid and planted at higher speeds, while offering considerably more power and a more engaging driving experience. However, these advantages are not enough to sway the overall decision. For this particular use case, the e Vitara Alpha remains the safer and more sensible choice.
I’m planning to buy an electric SUV in Delhi with an on-road budget of Rs. 20-21 lakh. My usage will mainly involve a 30-40 km daily office commute, along with occasional weekend highway trips. The VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity has caught my attention because of its design, features, and range, but I’m hesitant about its after-sales support, service network, resale value, and long-term reliability. Given my requirements, would you recommend the VF6, or is there a better EV in this price range that offers a more dependable ownership experience?
Given your usage pattern of a 30-40 km daily commute with occasional highway trips, the VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity is a tempting option with its strong range and feature set. However, your concerns about after-sales support, service network and long-term reliability are valid. VinFast is still a relatively new player in India, and while the company is making efforts to establish a service network, it does not yet have reach of more established brands. So it really boils down to the support you have in your area. If there is a dealer close to you and in the areas you drive to, you could go ahead with the car. As for the company itself, Vinfast is investing in expanding their network and has also massive plans for India for their auto business as well as other businesses like the GSM app based taxi service. From that point of view you need not worry as they are not a fly-by-night operator. If you would however you would prefer an electric car from an established brand, the Mahindra BE6 would be a good option as it too has a striking coupe like design, as this seems to be what you prefer. As an all rounder the Hyundai Creta EV would be a good option.
I am thinking between Evitara and VF6, which one would be an ideal choice for s family of , 2 adults and 2 kids ? I am looking at comfortable rides in cities and highways too, good build quality and safety with atleast a range of 350+ kms range. My budget is around 17-20 lakhs. VF6 is so tempting with their 3 years free fast charging, 3 years maintenance free but just worried about their service and network. Any other choices that fits my budget?
I drive around 50-60KM AVRG per day , so what car do you recommend me , i already own a skoda rapid 1.6tdi 2013 model and a innova crysta 2.4v 2022 model , and looking into a daily driver in ev segment and needs to suit my family of 4 , the car i looked into was vf6 , vf7 , xev9e , mg zs ev. Should i go ahead with the xev9e or the the above mentioned cars or should i wait for the Tata siera launch ?
Hi, I am planning to buy an EV in the 15-17 lakh range. This will be my daily drive to the office, which is approximately 40-50 kms a day. I have driven the Nexon EV, Windsor EV, and the Curvv EV. I haven't driven the VF6 yet, as it is a little over my budget, but it seems a better car in terms of build quality and driving, as per reviews. Should I settle for one of the obvious or splurge a bit for the VinFast?
For a 40-50 km daily city run and a budget of Rs. 15-17 lakh, go with the Nexon EV 45kWh version in a mid trim. It suits your use and budget better than stretching for the Vinfast VF6. You’ll get more than enough range for the week with a healthy buffer; this Vinfast car is easy to drive and park, rides comfortably over bad patches. Also, Tata’s service reach is fairly wide. The Nexon EV has also proven to be a safe car.Do note, the Nexon EV’s cabin does not feel as premium as the VF6. But for office runs, traffic and the odd weekend trip, it works well.If you want a fresher shape and a bit more road presence from your shortlist, the Tata Curvv EV is worth a look.
