The Vinfast VF6 electric midsize SUV has secured a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. The VF6 secured 27.13/32 points in adult occupant protection and 44.41/49 points in child occupant protection. The test, however, noted weak protection for the driver’s chest in the event of a frontal collision.

Vinfast VF6 adult occupant protection explained

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the VF6 offered good protection to the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck and pelvic regions. However, protection was notably ‘weak’ for the driver’s chest area and marginal to adequate for the driver’s knees; protection to the passenger’s knees was also only adequate. The VF6 did, however, score full points (16/16) in the side movable barrier test and was rated ‘OK’ in the side pole impact test.
Vinfast VF6 child occupant protection explained

For child occupant protection, the VF6 secured 44.41 points out of 49. It got full points in the dynamic test (24/24) and the CRS installation test (12/12) and 10 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the rear outboard seats, secured by ISOFIX anchorages.
Vinfast VF6 safety features

As standard, the VF6 comes equipped with 7 airbags, including a driver knee airbag, and 3-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers, ESC and ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats. The rating applies to all of VF6’s trims – Earth, Wind and Sky – and the vehicle also complies with the AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms. The test was conducted in November 2025, but results were published only in January 2026.
