Mercedes-Benz GLS Quick Review
Its gargantuan size and that big Mercedes logo on its grille grant the GLS immediate respect on Indian roads. You’ll have quite a climb up into the GLS but once inside, you’ll like the cabin for the vast space and excellent all-round visibility it has to offer. Seat comfort is good and even the third row is perfectly habitable for two medium-sized adults. Unfortunately, access to the third row isn’t the most convenient. Of the other things, the cabin is well-finished and looks built to last; but still lacks the modernity of newer rivals.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS 350d’s 258hp, 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel V6 engine is smooth, has plenty of shove and serves-up enough power at all speeds. The GLS 400’s 333hp, 3.0-litre, twin-turbo-petrol V6 is wonderfully refined and makes the big Mercedes feel surprisingly light on its feet. Ride comfort is good on both versions, although there is a little firmness at low speeds. The GLS is a big SUV and feels its size from behind its wheel; thankfully, auto parking is standard fitment.
The 585hp Mercedes-AMG GLS63 is, simply put, the quickest vehicle available to transport seven people. It’s blisteringly quick and sounds mega; but a lithe and tight performance SUV it isn't.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Variants: Our Choice
Of the standard GLS models, we’d pick the GLS 350d. It’s smooth and punchy, and is sure to fetch more money than a GLS 400 when it’s time for you to sell. That the GLS 350d is significantly more efficient also helps tilt the vote in its favour. All GLSes come with a standard-fit all-wheel drive and air suspension. A panoramic sunroof, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a 360-degree camera and auto parking are some of the other available features.
