Mercedes-Benz S-Class
The Mercedes-Benz S-class has held on to the ‘best car in the world’ tag for decades. It’s the benchmark among full-size luxury sedans and is available in India only in long-wheelbase and extra-long-wheelbase Maybach versions. 2018’s update brought with it slightly refreshed styling, more features and new engines.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Quick Review
Large and elegant, the Mercedes-Benz S-class has immense presence. Its cabin is even more special. While not as new age in look as rival’s cabins, the S-class interior is lavishly appointed and has old-school warmth to it. There are all sorts of goodies to make your life more comfortable and rear-seat comfort is arguably the best in the business. Maybach versions take the comfort level up a notch by offering even more room to sprawl out.
Exemplary refinement is a common theme across the Mercedes-Benz S-class range. And performance is excellent across the board, too. The S 350d’s 286hp, 3.0-litre straight-six diesel motors and the S 450’s 367hp, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines are thoroughly impressive; while the Maybach S 560’s 4.0-litre V8 petrol and the range-topping Maybach S 650’s 6.0-litre V12 petrol engines are in league of their own. Exceptional ride comfort is a hallmark of the S-class and few cars can glide over our roads with the same poise. Handling is pleasant but it’s not the sharpest of limos, if that’s what you are looking for.
The latest Mercedes-Benz S-class features semi-autonomous driving aids that work great in orderly traffic and on well-marked roads but do tend to get frazzled by the typical chaos on Indian streets.
