The Range Rover Evoque facelift retains the compact, coupe-like silhouette that made it a design icon. The updates are subtle yet confident: a sleeker mesh grille, super-slim LED pixel headlamps with new DRL signatures, sharper bumpers and refreshed alloys give the Evoque a more sophisticated presence without losing its sporty profile. Dual-tone roof options and cool accent colours like Corinthian Bronze add to its urban appeal.

Mechanically, the Evoque remains largely unchanged. It continues on its established platform with mild-hybrid 48V systems supporting both petrol and diesel engines that send power through a 9-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.

Inside, the facelift marks the most significant evolution. A sweeping expanse of leather and minimalist surfaces is punctuated by a massive 11.4-inch curved touchscreen that controls infotainment, climate and vehicle settings. With physical buttons removed, the cabin has a stark, Scandinavian simplicity that emphasises clean lines and premium materials, though this reductive approach may not appeal to everyone.

Rear seat space still isn’t the most generous in the class — the sloping roof and relatively small windows make it feel cosier than larger rivals, but taller occupants can still be comfortable. The large panoramic sunroof adds light and openness.

The facelift Evoque carries forward the familiar 2.0-litre petrol (around 250 hp) and 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel (~204 hp) engines, both assisted by a mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and smoothness.

On the road, performance is composed rather than sporty. The petrol motor delivers linear acceleration with relaxed character, and refinement is high, with minimal engine noise intruding into the cabin at cruising speeds. The 9-speed gearbox shifts smoothly most of the time, though it can be hesitant under rapid inputs. Steering is light in the city and adds confidence on highways, with solid composure through bends despite its compact footprint.

Thanks to the mild-hybrid tech, refinement and economy are respectable for a premium SUV. While exact figures vary with driving style and conditions, the system’s assistive electric torque and stop/start features help deliver efficient performance, particularly in urban use. However, mileage isn’t class-leading, reflecting the SUV’s all-wheel-drive hardware and heavier premium build.

Ride quality is mostly plush and controlled, especially over moderate surfaces. On smoother roads, the Evoque feels composed and planted, and the adaptive dynamics help moderate body motions. On rougher roads, though, the comparatively firm suspension can transmit sharper impacts, reminding you this is a compact SUV prioritised for refinement over rugged compliance.

Handling is confident for its size, with minimal body roll and secure manners through corners, though it leans more toward comfort than sharp dynamism.

Feature content is rich and contemporary. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, 3D surround-view camera, wireless charger, dual-zone climate, plus a Meridian sound system elevate the cabin. The advanced touchscreen integrates vehicle and terrain controls, keeping the dashboard tidy.

Safety tech includes multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, stability systems and a suite of driver aids — appropriate for a premium SUV at this price point.

Priced from about ₹67.9 lakh (ex-showroom India) for both petrol and diesel Dynamic SE trims, the facelifted Evoque competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

Its value proposition leans more toward style, brand cachet and luxury presence than outright practicality or spaciousness. While ride and refinement are strong and features generous, other rivals offer marginally better cabin space or dynamics for similar money. Still, for buyers prioritising standout design and premium tech in a compact luxury SUV package, the Evoque remains a compelling choice.
