FAQs
Trending Questions on Mahindra Cars - Answered by Autocar Experts
I am looking to buy a good EV and want something a segment above city cars. I had shortlisted the XEV 9e, but considering the โน2 lakh price difference compared to the 9s, I feel the XEV 9e may not sustain its current pricing and could see a price correction. The December offers are available, but they are not attractive enough for me to close the deal. Should I wait for another 2-3 months, or do you think the current offers are the best and I should go ahead with the purchase?
There is no confirmation of a possible price reduction for the Mahindra XEV 9e. In fact, carmakers usually use the new calendar year to bump up prices. If your heart is set on the Mahindra XEV 9e, we'd advise you to make the most of the year-end discounts.
Alternatively, you could consider the attractively priced Mahindra XEV 9S that is essentially a 9e in a conventional SUV body style. The two SUVs are one and the same under the skin, and it's only the different suspension tuning (the 9S is set up much softer) that is the point of difference that you'd feel on the move. The 9S also gives added flexibility with a third row of seats.
I plan to buy a Thar Rox. My daily running is about 10 km, with long road trips once every quarter. Which engine is best for my use - petrol or diesel - and which model offers the best value for money within a โน20 lakh budget? Please advise.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx petrol makes more sense given your limited running. The 2.0 litre turbo petrol is powerful, smooth and refined. While the diesel is more efficient, it is not as smooth, and you would need significantly higher running costs to recover its higher upfront cost.
Since you are not planning hardcore off-roading and your usage will mostly be daily commutes and highway driving, the fact that the petrol is only offered in 4X2 does not really matter.
The MX5 fits your requirements well, in both manual and automatic, stays within your budget, and offers features you would expect, such as 19-inch alloys, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a single pane sunroof and a reversing camera.
Hi Team. I want to buy my first car and prefer an automatic. My usage will be around 700 km per month, and I need a sub-4-metre car. Iโm confused between the new Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. With respect to mileage, which of the two is better? Please suggest.
Since mileage is important to you, we would suggest the Hyundai Venue. We have yet to put the new generation car through our standard fuel efficiency test cycle.
However, given that it carries over its powertrains, we expect it to perform better than the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The Mahindra car is tuned more for a peppy throttle response, and this drops its real-world fuel efficiency.
We own two cars: a 2024 top-line manual Taigun and a 2025 GT Line VW. My daily city run is about 70 km and my wifeโs is about 40 km. Should we buy an EV given our usage, and should we consider selling one of the cars? We are doctors and both cars are great to drive, so we are unsure what makes the most sense.
Yes, the Volkswagen Taigun is a lot of fun to drive, however if you are open to going electric, you could sell one and get an EV. That way, you will still have an internal combustion car for any occasional highway trips.
Since both you and your wife's daily drive is within the city, either of you could use the EV, and range would not be an issue. Also, besides the lower running costs, you could also benefit from things like toll and parking fee waivers for EVs in certain cities.
Consider the Hyundai Creta EV, which is a no-nonsense and practical car. However, if you do want a fun-to-drive electric, check out the Mahindra XEV 9S, or even the Mahindra BE6, which is very exciting to drive but has quite a few ergonomic issues.
I am looking to buy a 7-seater SUV with an automatic transmission within a budget of 20 lakh. I do not need fancy features, but cruise control is essential. My annual driving is around 5,000-6,000 km. Please suggest suitable options.
The Mahindra XUV700 is a good option to consider. It is spacious, comfortable, and comes with a 7-seater configuration and will fit within your budget. The XUV700 also comes with a long list of features, including cruise control, which is part of the standard equipment.
However, if you can, we would recommend waiting a bit as an updated version - called the XUV 7XO - will be launching early this month. You then benefit from having the newer car and all the updates it would bring. However, bear in mind the price may go up a bit.
I purchased a Hyundai Grand i10 petrol in 2015. I am now planning to upgrade to a 7-seater vehicle. My usage is 90% highway and 105 city. Since I travel to my farmland frequently, my priorities are safety, comfort, and performance. I am not interested in the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga or XL6 due to safety concerns and outdated looks, and I am also not interested in the Kia Carens.
I am currently using a Verna diesel top variant, and my yearly running is approximately 20,000 km. I am now thinking of buying the Mahindra XEV 9S Pack 1 with the 79 kWh battery pack. Please suggest whether this is a good idea for me.
If you've got your heart set on the Mahindra XEV9S, go for it. It is a sensible option. Not only do you get the latest in terms of tech and features, but you also get the flexibility of seven seats. Also, its larger battery ensures a healthy travel range, which is likely to be in excess of 450km in the real world.
I am moving on from a manual Tata Nexon and have test-driven the Renault Kiger Turbo Emotion and the Kia Sonet HTK Plus iMT. The Kiger is fully loaded, looks modern and has a good feel, while the Sonet offers a sunroof, iMT useful for city driving, and stronger overall road and brand presence. Iโm confused because the Sonet seems like a better car but feels outdated, and the Kiger is very cool and feature-rich but might have poorer resale or other issues. Please advise.
You're right, the Renault Kiger is a modern car which is decently equipped, but its resale value isn't as strong as some other options in this segment. The Kia Sonet feels more polished overall, and it will get you more features too.
Yes, the iMT is convenient, but try getting a proper automatic instead, which will be a far more convenient and smoother option. If you want something a bit more modern, the Hyundai Venue is also an option you must consider. The Mahindra XUV3XO is also a compact SUV you may consider.
I recently bought an XUV700 AX7 Ebony Edition diesel automatic for my family because it offers great value for money and has a tech-oriented, spacious interior. I already own a Fortuner, Thar, and Harrier. Did I make a good decision by buying the XUV700? I chose it because it is fun to drive and has unbeatable power. Was it a good decision?
We are looking for an EV car in the budget of 25 lakh. We received great offers in December for the XEV 9E, but the XEV 9S has also been launched now. We booked a 79-kilowatt XEV 9E pack 2. But we are thinking of going for pack 2 XEV 9S around the same price. It is confusing to know which car is better. We donโt need a seven-seater, but we also donโt mind extra seats. We need a comfortable car out of the two. Also, I get car sickness often. The Scorpio N suspension is good, but body roll is there. So I decided 9e. Your suggestions, please.
