Hyundai India has updated its Creta SUV for 2019 with more equipment standard across all its variants and a new top-spec variant in the form of the SX (O) Executive. Updates to all variants of the popular Hyundai SUV include safety features such as rear parking sensors, a seat-belt reminder and a speed alert system, along with eco-coating with the AC unit. On the base E petrol trim (now Rs 9.60 lakh) the addition of these features has seen a price hike of about Rs 10,000.

Starting from the mid-spec SX (Rs 12.23-13.58 lakh), the Creta now gets LED tail-lamps as standard. It is the top-spec Creta SX (O) Executive (Rs 14.13-15.62 lakh) that gets segment-first features like ventilated seats.

Hyundai Creta ventilated seats Another segment-first feature on the Creta are cooled seats.

The Creta is unique in its segment as it is available with three engine options and two transmission options – a 123hp, 1.4-litre petrol engine (with automatic and manual gearboxes), a 90hp, 1.4-litre diesel (mated to a 6-speed manual only) and a 128hp, 1.6-litre diesel (with either a 6-speed manual or automatic).

The segment where Hyundai’s Creta is the current leader is seeing an increase in competition from new entrants like the Nissan Kicks and Tata Harrier. It remains to be seen if the updated Creta will help the Hyundai retain its position on the top of the sales charts.
