Launched less than a month ago, the Hyundai Venue is already seeing great demand from buyers. The compact SUV, which is priced starting at Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), received over 15,000 bookings even before the pricing was revealed on May 21, 2019.

Dealer sources have revealed to us that Hyundai’s latest model has a waiting period of about 6-8 weeks, depending on the engine and variant choice. Speaking of engines, the Venue’s new 1.0-litre petrol unit coupled with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is the most popular choice among customers. The diesel is the second-most popular engine choice, and the 1.2 petrol is the least popular owing to its rather basic equipment list.

As is already known, the Venue is available with a choice of two petrols and one diesel engine. The diesel is a 90hp, 1.4-litre unit that’s paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol line-up, meanwhile, includes an 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit and a new 120hp, 1.0-litre GDI turbocharged mill. The 1.2 petrol is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.0 petrol can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Both variants of the Venue AT – the S and the SX+ – seem to be in demand. For the 1.0-litre petrol MT, the SX trim is said to be the most popular.

Top-spec Hyundai Venues come loaded with kit like leather seats, automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with BlueLink connectivity and an Arkamys sound system, diamond cut alloy wheels, wireless charging, LED DRLs, a sunroof, six airbags, ESC and ABS with EBD.

The Hyundai Venue comes with 10 exterior colour options and three interior upholstery options. It rivals include compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
