Tata Motors will launch the facelifts of the Nexon and Nexon EV on September 14. While Tata Motors has yet to reveal the two SUVs, we recently reported in great detail about the internal combustion engine (ICE) Nexon facelift's exterior and interior, as well as about its powertrains and the new variant nomenclature.

    1. Tata Nexon facelift to borrow design cues from Curvv
    2. It will get 11 trims with new naming scheme
    3. Nexon facelift to get new two-spoke steering wheel

On the outside, the Nexon facelift will receive a major facelift, clearly drawing stylistic elements from Curvv and Harrier EV concepts. This is the second major facelift for the Nexon and will get a new split-headlamp setup, a full-width LED tail-light, a new design for the alloy wheels, the exclusion of the erstwhile Nexon’s Y-shaped design motifs, and much more.

The Nexon facelift gets a redesigned dashboard with slimmer AC vents, touch-based HVAC control panel, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and a new two-spoke steering wheel. However, Tata Motors has retained the rotary drive mode selector and the manual handbrake.

At the moment, not much is known about the design of the Nexon EV, but expect it to be similar to the ICE model.

Tata Nexon facelift powertrain and variants

Under the hood, the Nexon will continue with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol gets a choice of four gearboxes – a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT. The diesel engine, however, only gets the 6-speed gearboxes.

Like the information on the design of the Nexon EV, information about its powertrain is also yet to surface. We expect to know more about the Nexon EV in the coming weeks.

Tata Motors will also ditch the existing nomenclature of the Nexon that started with ‘X’ – XE, XM, XM+, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux – and adopt the Punch’s naming system instead. It will now get 11 trims –  Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S) and Fearless+ (S).

Tata Nexon, Nexon EV facelifts expected price, rivals

The Nexon facelift will rival the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. On the other hand, the Nexon EV facelift will continue to rival the Mahindra XUV400.

Expect the prices of the Nexon and Nexon EV facelifts to be slightly higher than the outgoing models.
